What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Consulting RFP (Request for Proposal) Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Consulting RFP Specialist, you need strong analytical abilities, proposal writing skills, and a solid understanding of consulting services and procurement processes, often supported by a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with RFP management tools like RFPIO, proposal automation software, and CRM systems is typically required. Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and persuasive communication set standout performers apart in this role. These skills are crucial for creating compelling proposals that win business and ensure compliance with client requirements.

What are some common challenges faced when preparing a consulting RFP, and how can applicants address them?

One common challenge in preparing a consulting RFP is ensuring that responses are tailored to the specific requirements and objectives outlined by the client. Applicants often need to balance demonstrating expertise with providing clear, customized solutions. Additionally, meeting tight deadlines and coordinating input from multiple internal stakeholders can be demanding. To address these challenges, it's important to thoroughly review the RFP, communicate closely with your team, and allocate ample time for drafting and revising your proposal. Strong project management and attention to detail can significantly improve the quality and competitiveness of your submission.

What is a Consulting RFP?

A Consulting RFP (Request for Proposal) is a formal document that organizations use to solicit proposals from consulting firms or independent consultants for a specific project or service. It outlines the project's scope, objectives, timeline, budget, and evaluation criteria, allowing consultants to submit detailed proposals on how they would address the organization's needs. The RFP process helps organizations compare different consultants' approaches, experience, and costs to make an informed hiring decision.

Job description

About the Role

In the Strategic Solutions Consultant role, you will lead Courier Health's most strategically important and complex opportunities with dedicated focus on the enterprise segment. You will own deal strategy for high-impact engagements, partner with Sales to engage complex buying committees across multiple stakeholder groups, and serve as a trusted thought partner to executive stakeholders - from Chief Commercial Officers to VPs of Access and Patient Support.

You will partner cross-functionally to close top Pharma deal and position Courier Health to deliver significant value as we evolve our product. Your work will directly influence win rates, time-to-close, deal quality, and long-term client outcomes.

What You'll Do
  • Own solution strategy across enterprise opportunities. Lead discovery to uncover economic drivers, decision criteria, technical requirements, and risks.
  • Turn discovery into demonstrations that win. Connect platform capabilities to client-specific outcomes, tailor the narrative to every stakeholder, and handle objections to advance the deal
  • Act as the technical and solution authority at the executive level. Lead workshops, RFP presentations, and demos. Mentor Solutions Consultants and influence Product roadmap through structured deal feedback
  • Design high impact project plans and internal handoff materials that are aligned to client needs and platform strategy, ensuring Product and Implementation Team alignment
Qualifications
  • Strong passion for Courier Health's mission and improving patient outcomes through technology
  • 10+ years in solutions consulting, enterprise SaaS pre-sales, or strategic consulting
  • Proven track record leading complex, multi-million ARR deals with multiple stakeholders and strong win rates
  • Executive presence. Comfortable influencing C-suite buyers and presenting to senior leadership
  • Strong commercial acumen across deal economics, pricing strategy, and competitive positioning
  • Value selling mastery. The ability to quantify business impact, build ROI models, and articulate value to economic buyers
  • Ability to architect complex solutions and discuss technical integrations (APIs, integrations, security, and HIPAA compliance) confidently with client IT teams
  • Bonus: Deep experience in life sciences, specialty pharma, rare disease organizations, or regulated healthcare environments
Benefits
  • 100% paid employee health benefit options (including medical, dental, and vision)
  • 401(k) with employer funded match
  • Unlimited Vacation
  • Commuter Benefits
  • Paid parental leave
  • Catered lunch on Fridays
  • Wellness stipend
  • Great Place to Work Certified

The annual salary range for this role is $160,000 - $200,000 + equity + benefits, including medical, dental, and vision. This role is eligible for performance-based variable compensation.
