Overview & Position Summary

This role provides leadership over residential construction operations across one or more communities, ensuring homes are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to established quality standards. The position oversees and develops construction leadership and field teams, coordinates closely with trade partners and internal departments, and addresses complex operational, quality, and customer-related challenges. Success in this role is measured by production performance, cost control, quality outcomes, safety compliance, and the effectiveness of the construction team.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee residential construction operations across assigned communities, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, quality, and safety expectations.
  • Manage, coach, and develop construction leadership and field staff, including hiring, training, performance management, and workforce planning.
  • Coordinate daily and long-term construction activities with trade partners, suppliers, and internal teams to maintain efficient workflow and reduce cycle time.
  • Monitor construction schedules, production metrics, and cost performance; implement recovery plans and corrective actions to address variances.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards across all job sites.
  • Establish and maintain strong trade partner relationships, addressing performance issues and ensuring adequate staffing and workmanship quality.
  • Review construction quality and jobsite conditions, reinforcing standards for cleanliness, safety, and overall community appearance.
  • Resolve complex construction, scheduling, personnel, or customer-related issues that impact production or homeowner satisfaction.
  • Communicate construction performance, risks, and operational priorities to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, cost control, and team effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education & Experience

Required:

  • 4–6 years of experience in residential construction, construction management, or 8-10 years of equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience supervising or leading construction professionals or field teams

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, and quality standards
  • Working knowledge of construction scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
  • Ability to lead, coach, and manage teams to achieve operational goals
  • Effective problem-solving skills across multiple job areas and teams
  • Clear communication skills with trades, internal partners, and leadership
  • Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and building codes
  • Sound judgment and decision-making in a fast-paced field environment

Working Conditions

The role operates in both a general office and active residential construction site environment. Regular travel between communities, job sites, and meetings is required. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and construction materials is expected.

Automobile Allowance Requirement:
This position is eligible for an automobile allowance. Candidates must maintain a valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and automobile insurance meeting company coverage requirements. Proof of insurance will be required before employment.
 

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $126,000-138,000
  • FLSA Status: Exempt
  • Bonus Type: Production
