WE'RE HIRING
Construction Project Manager
Westbrook, Maine • Projects across Maine, New Hampshire, and beyond
Ready to run your own show — budget, schedule, crew, and all?
THE OPPORTUNITY
BENCHMARK has been turning blueprints into buildings since 1993, and we're looking for an experienced Project Manager to take the wheel on their own projects. You'll report directly to the VP President of Construction, run your project like your own mini business (P&L and all), and have the autonomy to make decisions — while having support when needed. If you like ownership, a little healthy pressure, and a team that treats you like a partner instead of a cog, this is your seat at the table.
WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY BE DOING
▪ Keep informed on, and ensure that, all insurance, safety, and non-harassment standards are met on assigned projects
▪ Work with Estimating to develop schedules and review budgets, maintaining a thorough understanding of the project estimate
▪ Prepare and negotiate change orders and manage the submission process
▪ Own the timely buy-out and planning of work; review and analyze subcontractor and vendor bids alongside the estimating team
▪ Work with the Superintendent to manage subcontractors and monitor their progress
▪ Utilize project management software (Procore, Sage/Timberline, Microsoft Project, and similar) to support project administration; familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus
▪ Inspect job sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance with engineering plans, specifications, and safety standards
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
▪ 5+ years of experience successfully managing commercial construction projects
▪ Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
▪ Capable of co-leading preconstruction and design-build efforts, including scope reviews, price negotiations, and value engineering suggestions
▪ Proficiency with Microsoft Office, MS Project, and Procore/Sage/Timberline
▪ Understanding of cost accounting methods, systems, and reporting
▪ Working knowledge of building codes, permitting, and other regulatory requirements
▪ LEED accreditation a plus
EDUCATION
▪ Four-year college or university degree in engineering or construction management
WHY OUR CREW STICKS AROUND
We're not a family business — but stick with us a while and it starts to feel like one. Here's what our team says they love most:
▪ Autonomy — nobody's hovering over your shoulder. Own your work.
▪ Real trust and respect, from leadership on down
▪ A genuine sense of camaraderie — the good-natured ribbing kind, not the forced kind
▪ A team that actually has your back when things get tough on-site
▪ Zero micromanagement — we hire good people and let them do their jobs, while supporting where needed
▪ A workplace that's fun, upbeat, and doesn't take itself too seriously
▪ Proof it works: 75% of our team was referred by another employee
