Job description

Project Engineer (Commercial Construction)

Location: Englewood, CO

Experience Level: 2–5 years

Summary

A tight‑knit, family‑oriented commercial builder is seeking a Project Engineer who thrives in a fast‑moving environment, enjoys wearing many hats, and is eager to grow into a future Project Manager. You’ll be the sole PE on staff, working directly with senior leadership and supporting projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is ideal for someone humble, organized, proactive, and excited to learn every aspect of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construction document review — analyze plans, specs, and project requirements
  • Submittal management — review, process, and track
  • RFI coordination — draft, submit, and follow through
  • Change order support — assist with pricing, documentation, and approvals
  • Owner billing — prepare monthly billing packages
  • Scheduling assistance — support development and monitoring of project schedules
  • Subcontractor packages — assemble, track, and maintain documentation
  • OAC meeting participation — prepare materials and support communication
  • Punchlist & closeout — help drive completion and turnover
  • Cloud‑based project documentation — maintain organized, accurate project records
  • Client & subcontractor communication — act as a proactive liaison
  • Safety support — assist superintendent with site safety needs
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and support delivery through warranty phase

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2–5 years as a Project Engineer in commercial construction
  • Strong proficiency in Bluebeam, Adobe, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Excel
  • Comfortable working without Procore; must be confident managing projects in Microsoft tools
  • Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and construction documentation
  • Highly organized, accountable, and eager to learn
  • Able to adapt quickly and jump into any task — “nothing is beneath me” mentality

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $45.67/hr.
