The Environmental Services Supervisor oversees departmental environmental services operations, including direct supervision of staff. Responsible for coordinating daily work activities, developing employee schedules, and determining appropriate methods, procedures, and equipment required to complete assigned duties efficiently and safely. Promotes high levels of employee performance, productivity, and service quality. Ensures compliance with Memorial Health policies, procedures, and organizational standards.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • None required.

Experience:

  • One to three (1-3) years of leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience required; prior healthcare environmental services or housekeeping experience preferred.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to safely lift and move objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance.
  • Demonstrated leadership, customer service, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to effectively manage staff and maintain positive working relationships.
Responsibilities
  • Supervises the daily operations of the Environmental Services Department to ensure efficient workflow and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Determines employee work assignments, schedules, and scope of work, including methods, procedures, and equipment utilized in departmental operations.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment in addressing employee concerns, complaints, and grievances in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Provides direct supervision of staff, including coaching, performance feedback, corrective action, and other personnel management responsibilities.
  • Trains new employees on departmental procedures, policies, safety practices, and operational standards; maintains documentation of completed training.
  • Conducts and documents semi-annual competency assessments for all direct reports.
  • Completes and documents annual performance evaluations for assigned staff.
  • Promotes optimal employee performance and productivity while maintaining compliance with departmental policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains inventory control of equipment and supplies, ensuring appropriate distribution and adherence to established par levels.
  • Performs duties of departmental staff when necessary to support operations, emergencies, or patient care needs.
  • Performs routine leadership rounding with employees, internal customers, and stakeholders to maintain effective working relationships and service excellence.
  • Conducts and documents routine quality inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Supports a positive patient experience through consistent patient interaction and documented service recovery or feedback activities.
  • Oversees and monitors departmental special projects, including floor care programs, construction support, and environmental initiatives.
  • Conducts daily audits of building keys, pagers, and assigned departmental equipment.
  • Reviews and monitors payroll for direct reports to ensure compliance with budgeted labor hours.
  • Identifies facility deficiencies and coordinates repair needs with appropriate departments.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned or required to support departmental and organizational objectives.
