Join our team as a Construction Manager and take charge of delivering safe, successful, and profitable utility-scale solar projects across the country. We hire Construction Manager I positions with expertise in one or more key disciplines—civil, mechanical, electrical, piles, or logistics—to lead utility-scale solar projects. Whether you're a specialist or a well-rounded professional, you'll have the opportunity to excel in your area of expertise while contributing to the success of high-impact renewable energy builds.

As a Construction Manager, you will be responsible for directing, planning, and managing all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in full compliance with company safety standards and operational procedures. Your role will vary by project and client, offering a dynamic and rewarding challenge with each new project.

Location & Travel Details: You’ll get the opportunity to travel across the US, helping our team build renew able projects. This is a traveling position (up to 100%), where you will be onsite at a project location. You have the potential to be placed on a project site located in any state throughout the US. You’ll spend 8-12 months on average per project. We offer designated daily per diem in addition to base pay to support and help you cover living expenses. This position is eligible for routine travel home (rotation) from the jobsite. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.

  • Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
  • Oversee all construction activities, specific to assigned discipline, on assigned project
  • Construct the project and work with the management team to maximize the profit of the project
  • Monitor and oversee construction activities and personnel within the delivery timelines, including development plans and training requirements
  • Keep Construction Manager II/III informed of overall construction activity progress & performance along with monitoring and review of construction key performance indicators
  • Cooperate with all matters relating to health and safety, including following safe working procedures at all times
  • Act as a role model for the company’s vision and values, behaving in ways that are in alignment with the company’s ways of working while encouraging other to do so as well

  • Build, Supervise & lead teams
  • Communicate effectively with crew leads on goals and expectations

  • Manage the Foremen with the CM II/III to facilitate and environment for all Foreman and crews to work in a respectful, constructive and positive environment
  • Manage the construction package elements of the procurement process
  • Monitor contract performance against project milestones, budget and other established metrics
  • Care for and sustain business relationships with multiple clients
  • Work with the CM II/III to ensure Client expectations are being met, along with the agreement and scope of work
  • Build and maintain a relationship with Client Site Representatives to ensure open communication and trust
  • Ensure all work in assigned discipline is done to the company Safety and Quality standards
  • Be proactive in equipment management, preventing equipment damages and planning of equipment resources
  • Complete personnel administrative tasks in a timely manner; expectation documents, performance management, task planners, employee change forms, etc.
  • Work closely with the Field Operations team on resource management to ensure we have the right people on the project at the right times to drive project profitability
  • Support Business Development, Estimating and Preconstruction efforts as needed

Construction Manager I Qualifications & Compensation:

  • Compensation $102,000-$130,000 / year, commensurate with experience
  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years of construction industry experience/knowledge of construction techniques, estimating and construction management
  • Experience in construction supervision on utility scale renewables projects such as Solar, BESS or wind preferred, experience in construction management on EPC or other large scale construction projects such as experience working for a heavy general contractor will be considered
  • Experience within materials logistics 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward MasTec’s Zero Injury principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Read, analyze and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts or governmental regulations
  • Write reports, business correspondence and document project activities
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, clients, customers and the general public
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
