Senior Manager Operational Technology - Decatur, IL
This is an exempt, salary level role.
Location:
This is an onsite position with a preference for Decatur, IL. If qualifications are met, we may consider Erlanger, KY, Cedar Rapids, IA, or Clinton, IA.
Position Overview
The Senior Manager of Operational Technology (OT) will play a critical tactical leadership role within our rapidly growing global OT organization. This position ensures that day-to-day operations, system reliability, and team development align with the strategic direction set by the Director of OT&PA.
Strong partnership with Process Automation and Global Technology is essential to ensure seamless integration, security, and reliability across our operational technology environment-aligning people, systems, and data to enable safe, efficient, and digitally connected operations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who drives measurable improvement in operational performance, cyber resilience, and organizational maturity - ensuring safe, secure, and reliable OT operations across our 600+ locations worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Excellence: Serve as the primary steward of OT system reliability, performance, and security.
    • Lead initiatives to reduce loss of control events and ensure timely, thorough root cause analysis when incidents occur.
    • Drive measurable reduction in cyber risk and vulnerabilities through proactive monitoring, remediation, and compliance with security standards.
    • Ensure all OT operations uphold established standards, policies, and procedures to maintain consistency, safety, and compliance across the enterprise.
    • Proactively identify and mitigate operational risks to ensure uninterrupted support of the organization's core mission.
  • Operational Leadership: Oversee the tactical execution of OT initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and adherence to budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Team Development: Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers and managers, with a strong focus on onboarding, professional development, and performance management.
  • Organizational Maturity: Implement processes and best practices to strengthen team capabilities, consistency, and efficiency within a rapidly expanding global organization.
  • Project Delivery: Monitor and report measurable progress on project milestones, budgets, and timelines.
    • Track and communicate performance against key operational KPIs (loss of control events, vulnerability reduction, compliance with OT standards).
    • Identify risks and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain momentum and accountability.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with the Director of OT&PA to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans and ensure effective communication across global teams.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of learning, accountability, and innovation within the OT function.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in operational technology, industrial control systems (ICS), or related disciplines.
  • Proven leadership experience managing diverse technical teams, preferably in a global or multi-site environment.
  • Strong track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop talent, build high-performing teams, and drive organizational maturity.
