Job description

We are currently seeking a qualified Construction Inspector for our Albuquerque office. This person will be responsible for the inspection of specific operations on various construction type job sites (transportation, water/wastewater treatment facilities, infrastructure projects, etc.)
Essential Job Functions:
  • Observe and inspect various construction projects from beginning to completion. To include, but not limited to, thorough documentation of daily progress, computing and tracking materials and quantities, material sampling and testing, maintaining timely, accurate records of project progress and general oversight.
  • Read and interpret plans, details, specifications, and other contract documents. Recognize and report any deviations from the contract documents.
  • Conduct/Oversee laboratory and field testing and reports on soils, aggregates, asphalt, and other materials.
  • Maintain clear and effective written and oral communication and be able to answer inquiries as required.
  • Attend and conduct meetings to gain insight of the project prior to construction, progress updates and other project related meetings.
  • Measure and scale distances along with competent math skills to provide accurate documentation of work completed.

Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to travel and stay out of town a week at a time as required providing on-site observation, inspection, and testing.
  • Knowledge of typical construction practices, NMDOT specifications and ability to learn on the job through observation of others and asking questions.
  • Ability to work independently and incorporate efficient time management practices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and orally and coordinate with all the project stakeholders.
  • Disciplined individual who maintains accurate, timely and descriptive records of daily, weekly, and monthly progress.
  • Experience working with DOTs and thoroughly understand their requirements and expectations for projects.

Required Experience:
  • 1+ years of construction experience preferred.
