Job description

CTL|Thompson, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Technician for full-time employment with our Denver, COย office. Engineering Technicians will perform field and/or laboratory observations, tests, and inspections on various projects. Communicates with the project managers, contractors, other engineering technicians, client's representative, and other applicable field personnel at the project site. Collect and transport sample specimens to the laboratory for further testing and complete reporting daily. Maintain and clean company vehicle, equipment, and work areas as needed. Responsibilities may include assisting field managers in other assignments. Comply with company polices and safety standards.

Engineering Technician I are paid between $18.00 and $31.00 per hour. Engineering Technician II are paid between $21.00 and $35.00 per hour. Engineering Technician III are paid between $25.00 and $39.00 per hour.ย  Our offer will be based upon the individual's experience and qualifications. Work Location:

Field work and not eligible for working from home. Field locations are generally one to three hours away from offices.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Engineering Technician I

  • None

Engineering Technician II and III

  • Training field staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform observations and testing in accordance with industry standards, training, and specified procedures.
  • Document observations and tests results accurately from the field visit.
  • Observe drilling operations and obtain samples.
  • Generate field reports daily and review data prior submission of report.
  • Considerable contact and communication with clients, contractors, suppliers, and design team personnel.
  • In depth understanding of construction plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and other related documents.
  • Troubleshoot field challenges, support field team, and communicate effectively.
  • Consult with project managers on findings in the field and work closely with team members.
  • Maintain and calibrate assigned equipment.
  • Follow safety rules and practices, including project specific policies.
  • Perform pre-task planning prior going to the field.
  • Maintain quality standards for all assignments performed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Engineering Technician I

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Job related certifications preferred.

Engineering Technician II

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2 applicable certifications.
  • B.S. in geology (in addition to or in place of experience and certifications).

Engineering Technician III

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3 applicable certifications.
  • B.S. in civil, geotechnical or related engineering field (in addition to or in place of experience and certifications).

Work Environment:

This job operates outside, in a field environment. While working in the field, will be exposed to extreme weather conditions, including rain, snow, cold and heat. Routinely uses PPE and other safety equipment.

Physical/General Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 65 pounds at times.
  • Ability to walk around construction sites with uneven and varying terrain.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Evening and weekend work likely.
