The Construction Manager will support the West Gulf Coast "Project Resources and Outage Support" organization. This team executes capital projects for Hydrogen/Carbon Monoxide (HyCO) and Air Separation plants from Houston, TX to Lake Charles, LA. Construction Managers also lead field execution of capital projects during turnarounds in the region (typically 1-2 per year).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Construction Manager will support the West Gulf Coast "Project Resources and Outage Support" organization. This team executes capital projects for Hydrogen/Carbon Monoxide (HyCO) and Air Separation plants from Houston, TX to Lake Charles, LA. Construction Managers also lead field execution of capital projects during turnarounds in the region (typically 1-2 per year).

  • Champion safety and maintain a "Zero is achievable" attitude in words and actions.
  • Provide field supervision / on-site support during field execution (first on site, last to leave).
  • Act as the primary point of contact for field contractors.
  • Ensure contractor's workmanship and materials are according to drawings and specifications.
  • Support project engineers during scope development, project estimating, and execution planning.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in industrial plant construction.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in industrial construction management.
  • A broad knowledge of industrial construction including pipe fabrication and erection, steel erection, civil installation, and crane work.
  • Availability to work on-site a locations in the Houston area ~75% of the time.
  • Availability to travel out of town ~15-20% of the time within the region depending on project workload and turnaround assignment.
  • Availability to work extended hours and weekends as needed (typically during turnarounds but occasionally required for non-turnaround projects).
  • Ability to get a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct safety kickoff meetings with contractors and operations team prior to start of project execution.
  • Clearly communicate safety goals - 0 Recordables, 0 First Aids.
  • Lead daily morning safety / toolbox meetings with craftsmen.
  • Confirm contractor awareness of AP Safety Standards.
  • Complete safety and JSA audits daily during field execution.
  • Participate in the safe work permit issuance process with the operations team.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly team safety meetings.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD:

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Work professionally and harmoniously with co-workers, supervisors, management, support personnel, the business area, and contractors.
  • Utilize positive and constructive attitude toward resolution of problems and conflicts.
  • Accept direction, criticism, and supervision.
  • Ability to remain calm in demanding situations.

EXPECTED CONDUCT:

  • Maintain high ethical standards (uncompromising on worker safety and regulatory compliance)
  • Pass criminal background check.
  • Individuals will be subject to pre-employment, reasonable cause, random, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
