Job description

As the Director of Construction Management, you will be an integral member of our Leadership team in successfully developing and executing projects within the Construction industry to further strengthen the efforts of our highly skilled engineering team.
You will have total ownership of the construction group's project management including project deliverables, budgets, quality assurance and schedule whilst leading ongoing staff development and retention efforts. You will establish goals, priorities, and objectives; as well as develop and manage guidelines, policies, and procedures. In addition, you will be responsible for business development for construction management and construction administration opportunities on both horizontal and vertical projects in both the public and the private sector market in collaboration with the business development and executive teams to drive profitability.
What you will do:
  • Lead the Construction Management Group, nationally
  • Work with the group's leadership team to plan, manage, execute, and deliver various projects on time, on budget and in line with our clients' expectations.
  • Lead the RFP/RFQ process including site visits, client meetings, scope development, preparation of project approach, technical plans and schedules
  • Create and review monthly metrics; KPI's, budgets, and estimates
  • Lead QA/QC requirements and approaches plus ensuring overall site safety
  • Manage direct reports, including Construction Managers, Project Managers, Engineers, Technicians and alike; this includes ongoing staff development and retention
  • Utilize your expertise of cost trends, change management, and other construction-related matters to ensure overall success of project delivery while maintaining Milhouse Engineering & Construction's standards and specifications for project success.

Who you are:
  • Four-year Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • A minimum of 15 years of leadership engineering experience in construction administration/construction management practice area
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois
  • Registration in relevant professional organizations and participation in committees is desirable
  • Agency certifications in various relevant skill sets is desirable
  • Expert knowledge of construction management / construction administration policies and procedures for a variety of clients
  • Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems in a pro-active manner
  • Cultivate effective relationships with clients, and team members
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and extensive project management experience
  • Experience with IDOT/CDOT/Cook County
  • Proficient managing teams of 10 - 20 direct reports
  • Proficient managing multiple projects simultaneously

The actual base pay depends upon many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
