Department Information
Within this setting, the CEC department offers BS degrees in Civil Engineering (BSCE), Construction Engineering (BSConE), and Construction (BSCons). The BSCE and BSConE programs are accredited by ABET and the BSCons program is accredited by ACCE. The department also offers an MS in Civil Engineering and a PhD in Engineering. Delivery of the curriculum for each program emphasizes hands-on and experiential learning where students develop practical skills valued by employers. State-of-the-art equipment/instrumentation and advanced software are employed in both classroom and laboratory/field settings to prepare students to be productive technical professionals when they graduate.
Job Summary
Reporting to the department chair, the Visiting Instructor position will require teaching a variety of in-class and online courses (every semester), a wide range of civil engineering, construction, and construction engineering courses including but not limited to Engineering Graphics, Construction Graphics, Civil Engineering Computations, Introduction to Construction Management, and Introduction to Senior Project. This is an academic year appointment for the months of August 2026 - May 2027. All visiting positions are non-tenure track appointments. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications

• Earned M.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management, by August 1, 2026. Candidates with other degrees but with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Civil engineering or Construction fields will also be considered.
• Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
• Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Earned M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management, by August 1, 2026.
• Teaching experience at a higher education institution.
• Instructional expertise that complements existing faculty in the department.
• Professional experience in a related field (e.g., engineering design, consulting, project controls and management, etc.).
• A professional engineering license or the ability to become licensed.

Proposed Salary
Commensurate with experience.
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
