Job description

The Design Coordinator facilitates all interior design projects for RMS Companies’ existing and future hospitality and apartment properties. RMS Companies is a vertically integrated luxury hotel and apartment developer and operator with a portfolio of properties throughout Connecticut and Westchester, NY. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated aspiring designer who is hungry to gain firsthand exposure and assist in all elements of construction design projects from concept development to project completion. This individual will also assist in coordinating regular furniture selection/replacement and seasonal décor across RMS Companies’ hospitality portfolio. The Design Coordinator reports directly to RMS Companies’ Creative Director.

Role Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with RMS Creative Director, RMS Construction personnel, architects, and third-party design firms to facilitate all design-related projects for RMS buildings.

• Create and maintain database of vendors and contacts for furniture, fabrics, fixtures, and other materials used in constructing, renovating, and re-decorating current and future RMS buildings.

• Track status of all pieces of interior and exterior design elements of RMS projects from construction to completion.

• Follow up with vendors, third-party design firms, and architects when issues arise.

• Network and develop relationships with design vendors.

• Aggregate samples of fabrics, furniture, and finishes for selection by Creative Director.

• Assist in developing furniture layout of rooms or common areas of both hotels and apartment projects.

• Develop mood boards and presentations for various projects or aspects of projects.

• Select and specify various purchased catalogue pieces, with relevance to the established design narrative.

• Coordinate seasonal decorations in RMS properties on an ongoing basis.

• Additional responsibilities as needed.

Role Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in interior design or related field preferred.

• 1-2 years’ experience working in interior design a plus.

• Exceptional organizational skills.

• Highly attentive to detail.

• Proficient with technology, specifically Microsoft Office products.

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
