Experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent

Job description:

A growing construction company is seeking an experienced, hands-on Superintendent to lead the successful execution of construction projects from mobilization through closeout. This role is responsible for overseeing all field operations, maintaining project schedules, ensuring quality workmanship, managing subcontractors, and fostering strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

The Superintendent serves as the primary on-site leader and acts as the direct liaison between the company, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and project teams. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, solution-driven, and committed to delivering high-quality projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Field Operations

  • Lead all day-to-day field operations from project startup through final completion
  • Coordinate project mobilization, including site setup, signage, and logistics
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional jobsite environment
  • Open and secure the jobsite daily as required
  • Oversee project demobilization and ensure the site is clean and properly turned over
  • Generate and complete project punch lists in a timely manner
  • Supervise subcontractors, vendors, and self-perform crews to ensure quality, productivity, and compliance
  • Assist with hiring and managing field personnel as needed

Quality Control & Problem Solving

  • Ensure all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship
  • Review plans and specifications thoroughly to ensure scope coverage and constructability
  • Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and deficiencies proactively
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Architects, Clients, and Subcontractors to resolve project challenges efficiently
  • Implement field changes and corrections necessary to maintain schedule and budget
  • Schedule and coordinate all required inspections

Scheduling & Coordination

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate project schedules throughout the life of the project
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities, manpower, and material deliveries
  • Schedule all project-specific self-perform work
  • Maintain complete awareness of project status, milestones, and upcoming activities
  • Ensure trades maintain clean and safe working conditions at all times

Documentation & Communication

  • Prepare and submit daily superintendent reports
  • Document project progress through daily photographs
  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings, including RFIs, revisions, and field changes
  • Communicate change orders and project impacts promptly to the Project Manager
  • Maintain clear, professional, and responsive communication with clients, vendors, and project teams
  • Monitor and respond to emails and project communications in a timely manner

Qualifications & Skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
  • Experience in cold storage, industrial, commercial, or specialty construction environments preferred

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of construction industry experience in a supervisory role
  • Previous experience as a Foreman, Journeyman, or Lead Superintendent preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of multiple construction trades and sequencing
