Job description

Pay: $15-$18 per hour
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Store Manager
Company Summary: Midwest Petroleum is a retail petroleum and convenience store chain based in St. Louis, Mo. We began operating in 1946, and since 2002, the St. Louis Business Journal has recognized us as one of the top 150 privately owned businesses in St. Louis. Midwest Petroleum operates 60 stores within a 150-mile radius that employs approximately 600 employees. Midwest Petroleum markets fuel through the ZX, Conoco, and Phillips 66 brands.
Primary Purpose of Job: Food Sales Associates are responsible for the fresh food products made at Midwest Petroleum stores. Associates could be responsible for making both hot and cold food items based on the store location. Each associate is expected to prepare ingredients, cook fresh items, label, package, and date food items. Keeping all surfaces areas that food is prepared cleaned throughout their shifts. There will be standard recipes along with sizing portions for each product produced by this position that will be provided for all team members to follow. All associates must have good time management skills to ensure all areas of the sales floors used for Midwest’s food products are always filled with fresh products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all food stations remain stocked.
    • Prepare daily production list.
    • Present food so it is appealing to customers.
  • Perform prep cook tasks such as washing, chopping, and sorting ingredients.
  • Perform grill cook tasks, such as setting up broiler, fryer and grill stations according to the line check sheets if this equipment is used at the store location.
  • Label all food items with descriptions, expiration dates/times, and UPC codes.
  • Know all company procedures.
    • Follow recipes and portion guides set by management.
    • Follow company safety guidelines.
  • Practice safe food handling and storage as well as waste control procedures; Know and follow safety guidelines and report potentially unsafe situations caused by team members and customers.
  • Keep the kitchen, dishes, and storage areas clean and organized.
  • Receives products by verifying invoices and checking the freshness of merchandise.
  • Work with store manager to place food orders.
  • Work with other staff members to limit food waste.
  • Handle any other work that can be assigned at the supervisor’s discretion.
Education/Experience Qualifications
Highschool Diploma or Equivalent
1 year of experience in retail/food service
Food Manager Safety Certification
Must complete all Midwest Training Courses

Physical Requirements This position is performed in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to general office equipment, beverage equipment, coolers, and any other site-specific equipment/factors. You could also encounter exposure to hazardous materials and loud noises. This job requires the ability to walk, stand, bend, and reach regularly. Must be able to frequently be required to lift, push, or pull weight of at least 5 to 75 pounds. Ability to work in different Midwest Petroleum Stations.
