Job description

You will join a highly skilled team focused on delivering reliable, high-quality installation services in mission-critical environments, supported by competitive compensation and benefits designed to invest in your long-term success.


The Field Technician (L2) executes installation services as defined under applicable agreements and performs work to required technical, quality, and safety standards. This role is capable of independently performing installation services with little to no guidance from lead technicians and operates effectively in live, mission-critical data center environments. The Field Technician (L2) also supports quality assurance and quality control processes and provides mentorship to entry-level technicians. Fieldwork may include overtime, weekends, holidays, and off-hours. Travel may be required based on business needs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Execute installation services as defined under contractual agreements
  • Perform installation work to required technical, safety, QA, and QC standards
  • Perform all installation services required for the role without supervision
  • Establish scope, work plans, and procedures with minimal guidance from lead technicians
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and restore complex, multi-domain failures across fiber optic and twisted pair systems, including loss of signal, low signal, and interface errors
  • Identify and resolve issues independently without escalation
  • Support QA and QC requirements for assigned work
  • Work effectively in live, operational, mission-critical environments
  • Train and mentor L1 Field Trainee Technicians
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills across fiber optic and copper systems
  • Familiarity with PON or point-to-multipoint network deployments utilizing simplex fiber and non-standard wavelengths
  • Proficiency in fiber optic testing using OTDR and OLTS
  • Certified in fiber splicing
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling systems, testing methodologies, and documentation requirements
  • Ability to operate independently while maintaining quality, safety, and customer standards
Education and Experience
  • 3 or more years of documented industry experience
  • Documented fiber optic testing certification on OTDR and OLTS
  • Fiber splicing certification required
  • Experience performing work in operational environments and on projects within live mission-critical data centers
  • Possession of all relevant certifications required for the role
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
