About Spartan Emergency Water Removal:
Spartan Emergency Water Removal is a USMC Disabled Veteran - founded company specializing in water, fire, mold, storm, environmental, and reconstruction services. We proudly serve homeowners and businesses across Northern Virginia, Fredericksburg, Richmond, and surrounding areas. Our team is committed to delivering fast, professional restoration services while maintaining a supportive and team-driven workplace.
Job Summary:
The Lead Technician is the on-site crew leader responsible for directing mitigation crews through water extraction, containment, demolition, equipment setup, and daily drying monitoring in accordance with IICRC S500 standards. This role serves as Spartans primary field representative and is the main point of contact for homeowners throughout the job. The Lead Technician ensures professional conduct, accurate documentation, and technical execution on every site while reporting directly to the Mitigation Crew Chief for assignments, performance oversight, and escalation of scope changes, safety concerns, and homeowner issues.
Key Responsibilities:
  • On-Site Leadership & Job Execution
    • Review job scope and prepare crew, equipment, and vehicle before arrival. Provide clear task direction to Mitigation Technicians, maintain productivity, and ensure safe, efficient workflow. Assess site conditions daily, adjust as needed, and maintain clean, safe job sites at all times. Communicate ETA and job updates using required company procedures.
  • Mitigation Operations (IICRC Standards)
    • Perform and oversee water extraction, containment, controlled demolition, and drying setup in accordance with IICRC S500 standards and approved job scope. Ensure proper equipment placement, configuration, and documentation. Conduct daily psychrometric monitoring, interpret drying trends, and escalate issues when jobs are not progressing as expected.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Complete all daily documentation in MICA and Albi, including moisture readings, equipment logs, DWAs, and progress photos. Ensure all data is accurate, time-stamped, and submitted the same day. Provide daily job updates, scope concerns, and field issues to the Crew Chief.
  • Equipment, Vehicle & PPE Management
    • Maintain vehicle readiness, equipment accountability, and proper maintenance of all tools and assets. Inspect, clean, and track equipment before and after each job. Follow strict PPE requirements in all applicable environments and ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards.
  • Homeowner Communication & Professional Conduct
    • Serve as the on-site point of contact for homeowners regarding daily work activities. Clearly explain crew actions without discussing pricing, scope changes, or insurance matters. Ensure professional conduct at all times and obtain completion sign-off (Certificate of Satisfaction) at job closeout.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Maintain OSHA-compliant job sites and enforce safety protocols with all crew members. Identify and immediately report hazards, unsafe conditions, or regulated materials. Report all incidents, injuries, and property damage to the Crew Chief immediately and ensure proper documentation is completed.

What We Expect From Our Team:
All Spartan employees are expected to maintain a collaborative, professional, and positive attitude. Team members must be willing to assist others, adapt to changing priorities, and contribute to a respectful and supportive workplace. Employees represent Spartan in the field and are expected to perform their duties with integrity, accountability, and a solution-oriented mindset.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Valid Virginia drivers license with a satisfactory driving record (required)
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on water mitigation or restoration field experience required
  • IICRC WRT certification required within 90 days of hire (ASD certification strongly preferred and required for top pay)
  • Working knowledge of water damage restoration principles, psychometrics, and IICRC S500 standards
  • Experience operating mitigation equipment (dehumidifiers, air movers, air scrubbers, moisture meters, hygrometers)
  • Ability to complete job documentation using platforms such as MICA and Albi, including photos, DWAs, and daily logs
  • Strong communication skills for both crew direction and professional homeowner interaction
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must pass background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) review
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification preferred but not required
