Job Summary

The Director, Business Development – North Central Region is responsible for driving strategic business development, market expansion, customer engagement, and revenue growth across the Data Center Services portfolio throughout Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. This role partners closely with Global Account Leaders, Program Management leadership, Operations, Estimating, and executive stakeholders to develop and expand customer ecosystems while executing NTI\'s national sales strategy.

The Director, Business Development will cultivate executive-level relationships with Data Center operators, Hyperscale providers, AI platform operators, Cloud and Neo-Cloud providers, General Contractors, Fiber Service Providers, and strategic partners. This position serves as a key market-facing leader responsible for identifying opportunities, positioning NTI\'s service offerings, developing long-term customer relationships, and supporting profitable revenue growth across Data Center, Low Voltage, Fiber Infrastructure, and Mission Critical services.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Sales Leadership
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to support continued growth within assigned markets.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities with Data Center, Hyperscale, AI, Cloud, and Mission Critical customers.
  • Establish and maintain executive-level relationships with key decision-makers and industry influencers.
  • Develop and expand strategic partnerships with General Contractors, Technology Integrators, VARs, Electrical Contractors, and other industry partners.
  • Drive enterprise sales growth across new and existing accounts while maximizing cross-selling opportunities across Network Connex service lines.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify target markets, strategic accounts, and growth initiatives.
  • Support customer acquisition strategies and account expansion efforts.
Client Relationship Management
  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Maintain regular engagement with customer leadership teams to understand business priorities and infrastructure needs.
  • Coordinate customer engagement strategies with Global Account Leaders and Program Management leadership.
  • Identify customer challenges and position solutions aligned with NTI\'s capabilities and service offerings.
  • Support contract negotiations, solution development, and commercial discussions.
Market Strategy & Industry Engagement
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of industry trends, market conditions, competitive activity, and emerging technologies.
  • Monitor Data Center, AI, Cloud, Fiber Infrastructure, and Mission Critical market developments.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, networking opportunities, and customer meetings to strengthen market presence.
  • Develop regional market intelligence and strategic recommendations for leadership.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity pipelines, forecasting models, and sales performance metrics.
  • Provide regular reporting and updates regarding market activity, sales performance, and strategic opportunities.
  • Track key performance indicators and sales objectives.
  • Support annual planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Operations, Estimating, Engineering, Procurement, Architecture, and Project Management teams to develop customer solutions.
  • Ensure customer commitments align with operational capabilities and delivery expectations.
  • Facilitate communication between customers and internal stakeholders throughout the sales lifecycle.
  • Support handoff activities from sales to execution teams.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of Data Center, Hyperscale, AI, Cloud, Colocation, ISP/OSP, and Telecommunications markets.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling solutions, including copper and fiber infrastructure.
  • Understanding of security systems, DAS, AV, ELV, and related low-voltage technologies.
  • Strong familiarity with white space and gray space infrastructure environments.
  • Working knowledge of GC-led, CM-led, and Owner-led contracting models.
  • Experience supporting live Data Center and Day 2 infrastructure projects.
  • Strong executive-level communication and relationship management skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic sales initiatives.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and business development capabilities.
  • Financial and business acumen with the ability to evaluate project and customer opportunities.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office applications, and sales management tools.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25-50% throughout the assigned region.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Construction Management, Telecommunications, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting Data Center, Hyperscale, AI, Cloud, Telecommunications, Fiber Infrastructure, or Mission Critical markets.
  • Demonstrated experience in business development, sales leadership, account management, or strategic customer engagement.
  • Existing industry relationships within the Data Center ecosystem preferred.
  • Technical certifications or industry accreditations preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in person, virtually, and by telephone.
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned region and attend customer meetings, events, and job sites.
  • Ability to visit active construction and operational Data Center environments.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
