Job Description

NineStar Connect is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Electric Operations to provide leadership and oversight for electric utility operations across the cooperative. This leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, system reliability, safety performance, long-range planning, and continuous improvement throughout Electric Operations.

As Director of Electric Operations, you will provide leadership and strategic direction for the Electric Line and Metering departments while partnering closely with operational leadership to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient electric service delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the safety culture and ensuring operational accountability across Electric Operations
  • Providing strategic oversight of electric utility operations, including line construction, maintenance, and metering services
  • Supporting long-range electric system planning, modernization initiatives, load forecasting, and resiliency efforts
  • Partnering with leadership on capital improvement planning and operational budgeting
  • Establishing performance expectations related to safety, reliability, outage response, and service quality
  • Providing executive leadership during storm response and post-event evaluations
  • Mentoring and developing operational leadership, including succession planning
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, engineering standards, and industry best practicesย 
Qualifications

Successful candidates will bring a combination of operational leadership, strategic thinking, and a commitment to building a strong safety-first culture.

Qualifications include:

  • Strong knowledge of electric utility operations, infrastructure strategy, and operational risk management
  • Experience leading teams through influence, accountability, and strategic direction
  • Demonstrated leadership in safety performance, system reliability, capital planning, and budget oversight
  • Degree in Engineering Technology, Business, Management, or a related field preferred โ€” or equivalent progressive electric utility leadership experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build collaborative relationships across departments and leadership levels
