Summary:

A JM Civil Concrete Carpenter constructs, erects, installs and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood and patent type form systems using hand tools and power tools within tolerances that conform to drawings and specifications, as well as directing and training Civil helpers to do the same.

Essential Duties:

  • Work safely around the hazards associated with the construction field.
  • Use hand, electric, pneumatic and hydraulic tools and in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to identify all tools and equipment in Civil
  • Experience with SIMS forms, form pour, concrete, grout, rebar will be required
  • Must be able to radius forms, haunch forms, fireproof beams, install blockouts and pipe sleeves
  • Layout and build templates for anchor bolts
  • Must have full knowledge of OSHA rules for scaffold and ladders
  • Have knowledge of and understand hand signals and signal equipment with operators
  • Construction Math - Demonstrates a level of competency in construction math as required in trade practice, including fractions, decimals, geometry, use of formulae, and trigonometry.
  • Blueprint Reading – Correctly reads and understands plans, isometrics, arrangement drawings, details, specifications, erection manuals and/or blue prints and makes competent decisions based on measurable criteria.

Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years minimum heavy industrial field experience as a Civil Carpenter
  • Must be able to successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements.
  • Completion of Safety related certifications such as OSHA 10 or Safety council programs as required by company and/or client.

Physical/Site Requirements:

  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds.
  • Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
  • Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Work at heights with fall protection, work from manlifts, baskets, JLG’s etc.
  • PPE footwear/prescription safety glasses or eye shields required.
