Overview
About the Role:
GSI is building a concrete sculpting business within our core Geotech business. We are looking for several experienced concrete sculptors to become the core of the operational side of the business and help train fellow crew members to offer more customers these highly desirable finishes to geohazard mitigation work.
As a Concrete Sculptor, you will collaborate closely with soils crews, engineers and project managers to understand design specifications and ensure seamless integration of sculptural elements into the construction process. This position requires an experienced professional with a strong background in concrete sculpting and coloring, working with concrete to produce intricate, durable, and aesthetically appealing wall features for commercial projects. You will be responsible for shaping, coloring, texturing, and finishing concrete to meet high standards of quality and precision while adhering to project timelines and safety protocols.
You will also be responsible for assisting with our core operations, and helping newer sculptors apply their initial training and grow their skills to be able to complete more artistic finishes.

GeoStabilization International's team includes some of the brightest and most dedicated professionals in the geohazard mitigation industry. Their expertise, proprietary tools, and worldwide partnerships allow them to repair virtually any slope stability or foundation problem in any geologic setting.
Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Create sculpted concrete (shotcrete) walls, ensuring accuracy, technical specifications and artistic expression.
    • Color, sculpt, carve, and texture concrete surfaces with precision to meet design specifications.
    • Finish concrete with attention to detail, ensuring durability and a professional appearance.
    • Proficiently execute varied surfaces like stacked stone, geologic and ashlar.
    • Read and understand measurements and technical specifications
  • Train and support Sculptor Helpers and other employees with sculpting.
  • Adhere to quality, safety and environmental guidelines that align with GSI'S, state and federal guidelines.
  • Keep accurate records of sculpting activities.
  • Assist in soils earth work and additional duties as requested.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with crew members, project managers, warehouse, engineers, and other team members to coordinate sculpting activities.

Qualifications
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, and use hands and fingers to operate machinery, tools, computers, telephones, and keyboards.
  • Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds regularly.
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high and hearing protection is often required.
  • Work environment includes exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
  • Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • MUST have the ability to travel extensively on a rotating schedule, typically consisting of 2 - 5 weeks working / travelling, 1 week off.
  • 3 or more years of experience performing complex, high-volume concrete sculpting, coloring and texturing, preferably in a commercial or public environment.
    • Proficiency with sculpting tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work at vertical heights.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills: proven ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software preferred
