SUMMARY OF POSITION 

Kinsley is expanding its Building team out of our North East, MD location and seeking experienced professionals for multiple roles:

  • CONCRETE WORKING FOREMAN: A leadership role overseeing concrete construction projects. This “Working Foreman” position requires hands-on experience, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to lead and motivate crews.
  • CONCRETE FINISHER: Tasked with setting concrete forms, operating finishing equipment, and installing rebar or mesh. Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience and a strong desire to learn. 
  • CONCRETE CARPENTER: Responsible for constructing, repairing, and installing building frameworks and fixtures using wood and other materials. Physical labor on construction sites is required. 
  • CONCRETE LABORER: supports all phases of concrete construction, from site preparation to finishing. The role involves physically demanding work, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions to ensure structures are built safely and accurately.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 CONCRETE WORKING FOREMAN:

  • Effectively lead, manage, and motivate crews of 3 to 6 individuals.
  • Plan and schedule for necessary manpower, tools, materials, and equipment needed to complete the job.
  • Responsible for completing daily timesheets and maintaining daily logs.
  • Ensure job sites are safe by implementing safe work practices.
  • Ensure job sites and work practices follow OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Effectively delegate responsibilities and individual tasks to crew members.
  • Oversee and train new crew members.
  • Communicate and report job status effectively.
  • Utilize instruments for precise layout as needed.
  • Communicate and interface with clients maintaining Kinsley’s reputation as first-rate contractor.
  • Read drawings, plans, and blueprints, and conveying this information to others.
  • Identify and research adequate resources, labor, and equipment, to complete projects efficiently. 
  • Operate general construction equipment such as skid steers, excavators, telehandlers, etc..
  • Set complex forms ensuring correct and high-quality finished product.
  • Install and oversee the installation reinforcing rebar or mesh wire.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

 CONCRETE FINISHER:

  • Check and set concrete form for proper construction alignment.
  • Operate a concrete rider trowels and walk-behind machines.
  • Install reinforcing rebar or mesh wire as needed.
  • Spread, level, and smooth concrete using various tools such as straight edges, vibra screeds, walk behind and ride on trowel machines and hand trowels.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

CONCRETE CARPENTER:

  • Handling of wood, plastic, and other material.
  • Install windows, doors, cabinets, flooring and other various fixtures.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris and possible hazards and ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
  • Familiarity with bracing, scaffolding and temporary structures.
  • Works on concrete foundations.
  • Hang and finish drywall.
  • Installs acoustic ceilings.
  • Follow blueprints and building plans.
  • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
  • Construct building frameworks- both metal and wood- including walls, floors, and door frames.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

CONCRETE LABORER:

  • Ensure work site is safe and ready for concrete work.
  • Construct and install wood or metal forms that shape concrete for foundations, sidewalks, slabs, walls and other structures.
  • Operate mixers, follow mix ratios, transport concrete using wheelbarrows or pumps and pour it into prepared forms.
  • Use tools like screeds, floats, trowels, and edgers to achieve the required surface texture and finish.
  • Install rebar, wire mesh or other reinforcement systems to strengthen concrete structures.
  • Operate power tools such as saws, grinders, compactors and vibrators.
  • Assist crew as needed.
  • Help with demolition, excavation and site cleanup.
  • Follow OSHA and site-specific safety protocols.
  • Stand, bend, kneel, lift heavy materials and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time.


REQUIREMENTS 

    CONCRETE WORKING FOREMAN:

    • Previous experience directing a workforce is required.
    • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and moving whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials.
    • Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning and manipulating things.
    • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
    • Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods in unfavorable weather conditions.
    • Must have transportation to get to assigned job sites.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.
    • Ability to pass DOT pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening.
    • Must be willing to travel out of town for some jobs and some may require overnight stay.
    • Must have extensive experience with horizontal concrete and vertical concrete.


    CONCRETE FINISHER:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in finishing concrete is required.
    • Must be able to operate rider trowels is required.
    • Previous experience with carpentry and/or concrete work.
    • Capacity to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
    • Physical fitness for tasks involving climbing, lifting, balancing, and handling materials.
    • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
    • Possession of reliable transportation for reaching assigned job sites.
    • Skill in using a variety of hand and power tools.
    • Capability to work in unfavorable weather conditions for extended periods.
    • Aptitude for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

    CONCRETE CARPENTER:

    • Basic math skills to properly measure for the number of materials needed.
    • Knowledge of use with nails, screws, staples, and adhesives as well as various hand and power tools such as circular saws, nail guns, sanders, tape measures, squares, levels, brooms etc.
    • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
    • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and moving whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials.
    • Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods and sometimes in unfavorable weather conditions.
    • Establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
    • Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
    • Must have transportation to get to assigned job sites.
    • Must be reliable to get to work on time, ready with all tools to do a day of good work.

    CONCRETE LABORER:

    • Prior experience with construction, masonry, or concrete work is helpful.
    • Ability to read basic construction plans or follow layout is a plus.
    • Comfortable working long hours standing, bending, kneeling and performing repetitive tasks.
    • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
    • Understanding measurements, leveling and basic math.
    • Reliable transportation to job sites.
    • Ability to use hand tools and power tools such as trowels, screeds, saws, grinders and compactors.
    • Willingness to work overtime, weekends or early mornings depending on project needs.
