SUMMARY
The Management Trainee position is an opportunity to build banking knowledge and analytical skills, discover interests and strengths, and develop business acumen over the course of a 12-month Management Trainee program. This position will learn banking skills in a variety of locations, will gain an understanding of many areas of the bank, and open up future career advancement opportunities. The extensive training includes required and elective rotations (in areas such as Community Banking, Commercial Banking, Credit, Wealth Management, Treasury, IT, and Risk Management) and monthly educational and networking opportunities. Trainees who perform well will be considered for positions within the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gains a comprehensive view of how a growing financial services company operates.
  • Builds a strong network through various rotations and monthly training opportunities.
  • Benefits from time with a dedicated mentor who will provide support and answer questions.
  • Receives guidance from a rotation of supervisors who assist in managing responsibilities, measuring progress, and supporting growth.
  • Learns and develops through regular review sessions with rotational supervisors, mentor, and the Management Trainee Program Manager.
  • Acquires knowledge of First Interstate's procedures, standards, policies, banking functions, products, and services.
  • Develops key skills necessary for success in an ever-changing work environment like analytics, customer service, and business etiquette.
  • Attends monthly company-sponsored trainings to network with other Trainees and develop banking, management, and leadership skills.
  • Identifies and focuses on areas of interest.
  • Works with experienced employees to learn best practices.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Aptitude for developing business acumen and strong banking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills, and aptitude for learning other software applications.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and/or the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree required and
  • 1-3 years banking experience, business-related work experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience to include demonstrated financial analytical skills required
