Job Description Hiring Range $28.38 - $32.63 per hour Prior related experience and internal equity factors will be considered when determining the final hourly rate offered to the selected candidate Please clickhereto review automatic disqualifiers for this position The Information Technology Support Technician II performs intermediate to advanced technical duties related to computer hardware and software customer support in the Emergency Communications Center of the Sheriff's Office. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining Sheriff's Office computer systems to ensure end users receive the most e?ective IT functionality and support and maintain CAD/RMS/MDT as a secondary function. The position installs computer hardware and software, updates applications, and performs diagnostic tests and maintenance on computer components
This position also develops and maintains Sheriff's Office IT asset data, gathering and documenting asset state of condition, and performing complex technical o?ce and ?eld work to be used to plan maintenance activities and in support of a computerized maintenance management system. Does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision.
Examples of Duties Supports the operation of the Emergency Communications Center's computer aided dispatch, RMS and MDT technical/computerized systems Performs the installation, con?guration, and maintenance of computers, workstations, and other related equipment and devices Performs general problem solving and assistance on diverse software applications and hardware systems for Sheriff's Office users Provides individual and/or group instruction and training on new or updated technologies Performs varied technical assistance and maintenance duties; maintains and updates record keeping system; documents projects; writes and maintains user instructions Performs moderately advanced technological systems support, maintenance, and testing for proper upkeep of systems; may troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex system hardware, software, and con?icts Participates in the review, evaluation, and recommendation of solutions relating to hardware and software acquisitions and/or updates; Participates in research and development initiatives and aids in the implementation of new technologies Performs technical support by performing deskside support to users with common hardware and software problems, which includes troubleshooting, testing, or resolving issues Maintains computerized inventory of Information Technology equipment and specialized services for users Provides plan to maintain functionality and user productivity - acquires, tracks, supports, and decommissions hardware such as laptops, desktops computers, printers, and other technology equipment Supports efforts in the administration of system configurations, including, but not limited to system code tables and related system functions, System security authorization and assignment, System workflow management, monitoring and management of system audit logging Maintains supporting system software, including mapping sub-system database Supports establishment of formalized policies and procedures. Certi?cations such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, and HDI Support Center Specialist preferred Special Requirements: Selected candidate will be required to pass a polygraph examination, full background investigation and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Position requires periodic on-call duty status and may be subject to call back or hold over in urgent or emergency situations Physical Requirements/Work Environment This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Work requires stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
Visual acuity is required for color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm's length, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions, and atmospheric conditions. Occasional driving to remote sites is required.
