Job Summary
Provides technical assistance for the district's information technology program. Installs computer equipment and hardware, performs repairs, upgrades and maintenance, install software, troubleshoots technical problems, provides user training, and performs related technical duties. Reports to the Director of Information Technology.
Education and Experience:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology with major emphasis in PC systems or a related discipline with a minimum of two years of experience in the development, installation, training, support, and maintenance of PC systems including LAN technology; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  2. Proficient in computers and word processing software; or any equivalent combination of training software and experience that provide required knowledge.
  3. Supports the vision, mission, and beliefs of Hampton County School District.

Knowledge:
  1. Extensive knowledge of stand-alone and networked computers and peripheral devices, hardware, software, and operations (Microsoft, Active Directory, LAN, WAN).
  2. Knowledge of related software applications being used by end users.
  3. Knowledge of the records and reports which must be prepared and maintained.
  4. Knowledgeable in the use and operation of computers/networks and the entry and maintenance of related information and data. Possesses knowledge of effective training methods
  5. Knowledge of general computer applications and their utilization as related to specific tasks and responsibilities.
  6. Knows how to keep abreast of changes in policy, standards, procedures, and regulations pertinent to personnel and community related functions.
  7. Thorough knowledge of Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, possession of an excellent vocabulary and mathematical computation.

Skills/Effort:
  1. Ability to understand and execute moderately complex oral and written instructions.
  2. Ability to understand and apply district policies and procedures.
  3. Ability to provide effective training, guidance and instruction to equipment users.
  4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, staff employees and the general public.

Working Conditions:
  1. Conducts duties in an office environment with little significant exposure to environmental conditions.
  2. Physical demands are restricted to office and computer service work requiring the lifting/moving of items weighing up to fifty pounds.
