Job description

OVERVIEW:           

The System Administrator’s role is to manage and tune in-house computer software systems and network connections to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

Compensation for this Role: $85,000 - $100,000 Annually, Depending on Experience

PLEASE NOTE: this role is based full-time at our office in Lakewood, CO with some requirements for travel to other offices. No remote candidates will be accepted.

Specific Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers 

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Coordinate with network engineering, business application, and database administration functions to implement desktop and server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives 
  • Deploy and maintain workstations, servers, printers, scanners and host security systems

Operational Management

  • Manage all operating systems and end-user software
  • Manage and increase performance of enterprise systems 
  • Manage and resolve issues affecting network connectivity and communications including cloud services, email, Teams (with Teams calling), workstation and LAN connections and Internet applications
  • Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers andduring data transfer in accordance with business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy,security, and regulatory compliance 
  • Manage input/output fleet, including printers and scanners 
  • Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance withbest-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance 
  • Perform and test routine backup software and restores 
  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers,input/output fleet, and workstations
  • Escalate incidents as necessary 
  • Implement effective systems asset management by maintaining comprehensive hardware and software inventories, along with up-to-date documentation and technical specifications
  • Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance  
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches,reconfigurations, and/or purchases 
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems 
  •  Software procurement and development efforts 
  • Create required reports in response to business user needs 
  • Participate in negotiations with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software productsand services 
  • Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for systemadministration and appropriate use 
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team 
  • Other duties as may be assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

  • Applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Experience across a broad range of Microsoft Infrastructure Technologies, including but not limited to: current and future Windows Operating Systems, all components of Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Collaborative Communications and workspaces,
  • Intune Management and Deployment
  • Writing Windows Power Shell scripts for automation or maintenance 
  • Windows 2016 to 2022 and its accompanying roles and features 
  • Active Directory Domain Services including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Sites & Services and supporting infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP Networking in a LAN and WAN environment 
  • Set up, support, and configure workstations, including deploying and creating packages for software installation, imaging, and patching with Intune and NinjaOne
  • Utilize Zendesk ticketing system, including authoring and maintaining knowledge base articles
  • Knowledge of FortiNet products a plus

REQUIREMENTS:

College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or more than three years of equivalent work experience is required with certifications in Microsoft (MSCA, MSCE) or Cisco (CCNA) preferred. Limited local travel required.
