Position Title: CMAC Systems Administrator Lead

Location: Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station, Colorado

Relocation Assistance: None available at this time

Shift: Shift work may be required to support 24x7 operations. It is important to be available to work any shift/designated hours required including nights, weekends, and holidays on a modified Panama schedule if required

Travel Required: Up to 10% of the time

Our NORAD Operations Group

Selected by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center's Strategic Warning and Surveillance Systems Division for Operations, Maintenance, and Sustainment (OM&S) of critical mission systems for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyenne Mountain Complex (NCMC), we support the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II).

Since 2020, through the (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II), has provided:

  • Operations, maintenance, and Sustainment of current and legacy systems for the surveillance and cataloging of manmade objects in space.
  • Mitigation of orbital conflicts.
  • Threat warnings and control from airborne, land-based, and space-based systems for threat activities.
  • Operations and maintenance of classified communications.
  • Software development and integration.

NISSC II supports the classified communications and processing for Command and Control (C2) capability and legacy space C2 systems located at:

  • Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station (CMSFS), Colorado
  • Peterson Space Force Base (PSFB), Colorado
  • Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska
  • Vandenberg Space Force Base, California
  • Numerous sensor and forward operator sites around the world

Description of Duties:

The CMAC Systems Administrator Lead supports North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) on the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II). The candidate will:

  • Supervise CMAC personnel/job functions, implements/maintains various technical systems, and serves as an interface to the supported community users.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and training to others in the group.
  • Build and/or debug complicated hardware and software to correct difficult problems using technically advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Develop and implement system documentation and operation procedures. Identifies and corrects processing anomalies.
  • Install operating system software, patches, and upgrades
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system hardware, software, and networking issues
  • Configure, optimize, fine-tune, and monitor operating system software and hardware
  • Perform system backups, recovery, and server builds
  • Provide systems administrator support to systems hosting complex operational databases, software configuration control, and system interfaces for computer systems
  • Manage file servers and network access to include analyzing, troubleshooting, and documenting system anomalies.
  • Perform and provide server, workstation, and system expertise including on-site and off-site travel (if required)
  • Coordinate and schedules system upgrades and maintenance
  • Provide guidance, direction, and training to others in the group. Serves as backup to other computer systems administrators.
  • Order replacement of new hardware and software including warranty claims

** Shift work may be required to support 24x7 operations. It is important to be available to work any shift/designated hours required including nights, weekends, and holidays on a modified Panama schedule if required. **

This position is expected to pay $125,000-$150,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

This position will be filled and work onsite at Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station, Colorado

Basic Requirements:

  • 10 years or more general experience
  • 8 years or more direct experience
  • Working knowledge and system administration experience of Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
  • Working knowledge and system administration of Microsoft Windows operating systems (OS) administration and associated hardware.
  • VMWare and system virtualization (VCP/VCAP certifications desired).
  • Working knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies.
  • Cyber and Space Operations experience desired.
  • Understanding virtual machine and Remote Desktop.
  • Basic Windows System Administration experience or Background with space situational analysis or space orbital.
  • Qualifications:
  • Clearance Requirements: Active TS with SCI eligibility
  • Educational Requirements: Typically requires a BS degree in a computer systems administration field. Progressive relevant training and/or certification may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement.
  • Certification Requirements: DoD IAT Level II or higher

Desired Requirements:

  • BS degree in an IT/computer field
  • VCP/VCAP
  • Cyber and Space Operations experience
  • Understanding of network topologies and protocols
  • Trouble ticket reporting systems experience
