Job description

SEACORP is seeking a well-qualified Systems Engineer - Safety Analysis.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Job Summary: TheSystems Engineer - Safety Analysis will be part of a team of engineers andtechnicians providing engineering and technical support specific to performingsafety analysis for Torpedoes, Batteries, Software, Combat Systems, Ranges, andUnmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUV) for the Systems Safety and ReliabilityEngineering Branch, Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Newport RI. This is an ideal position for an experienced Systems/Electrical/Software/Mechanical Engineer interested in safety and weapons, or an individual with a Quality Assurance (QA) or CMMI background as there are commonalities in methods applied to complete the tasking.
Job Responsibilities include:
  • Conduct research, studies and analyses to ensure that systemsafety engineering requirements and specifications are incorporated into thedesign of systems from concept phase throughout a systems life cycle.
  • Employ existing guidelines and instructions, guidance fromhigher-level system safety engineers, experience, and independent judgment toplan and accomplish task objectives.

Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Softwarediscipline is required.
  • Software Safety Analysis preferred.
  • WSESRB Interactive Safety Environment (WISE) training preferred.
  • MIL-STD-882 training preferred.

Experience: 3+ years of related experience; specific experience in anyof the following areas is a plus:
  • Heavyweight and/or lightweight torpedoes, especially with actual torpedo safety.
  • Combat Systems.
  • Range System safety.
  • Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUV).
  • Battery safety.

As a requirement of employment, all SEACORP employees must hold U.S. Citizenship
Location: Newport, RI
Travel: Quarterly (approximately 4 times a year)
Clearance: Secret
Work Environment & Physical Demands: Office & Computer Laboratories - Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens. Infrequent lifting of <40lbs. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting.
