Pre Employment Requirements Selected candidates will need to complete an application for employment, Airport ID application, submit fingerprints and driver's license for a full Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and driver's license validation. Applicants must successfully pass a drug test and all other background checks.

The application and screening process may take between two (2) and three (3) weeks to complete pending the results of background checks and screening. Major Functions The Airport Security Specialist is an integral member of the Airport's Security Team and essential to the efficient day to day operation of the Airport Security Department. The Airport Security Specialist position is multifunctional, encompassing the Curbside, Ground Transportation and Airport Control areas.

The preferred candidate is team orientated, selfmotived and displays a friendly customer service attitude. NOTE: The position is considered Airport Essential during emergencies and severe weather conditions, and requires 24/7 shift work to include nights, weekends, holidays and before, during and after severe weather conditions. Reports and responds to emergency and non?emergency situations including but not limited to fires, vandalism, theft, illegal entry, suspicious activity, etc. Communicates and coordinates information or instructions clearly and effectively with law enforcement, emergency responders, and Airport tenants via two-way radios, telephones, and in person briefings

Monitors Airport security video surveillance, fire protection, and radio communications systems. Monitors use of computer data files to safeguard information; follows up on any violations with appropriate personnel. Monitors for activities which violate Airport safety and security regulations and could result in injury to guests/employees or damage to Airport property.

Serves as a visible deterrent to crime and suspicious or prohibited activities in public and non?public areas located on Airport property. Conducts both random and scheduled security sweeps and inspections as instructed by the Airport Security Coordinator. Controls traffic flow along the entrance of the Airport terminal.

Monitors employee, short and long term parking lots. Ensures vehicles entering secured areas are authorized. Performs safety inspections, collects fees and issues permits and identification badges to taxis and other ground transportation providers.

Maintains a positive and friendly working relationship with Airport tenants and guests while implementing the Airport's Security Program. Assists customers by providing general Airport information, such as parking and lost and found information. Provides escorts for contractors, guests, and Airport users.

Records test results, test procedures, or inspection data and verifies completeness or accuracy of data. Transcribes spoken and written information and prepares reports. Monitors Airport operational conditions and status of automated systems, performing routine tests to ensure appropriate notifications and follow up actions are taken.

Provides Airport staff, tenants and users with operational conditions, information, directions and assistance through various communications and computer systems to ensure the safe, secure and expeditious movement of the traveling public. Coordinates and dispatches appropriate staff regarding operational, maintenance, safety and security related issues; logs and reports complaints (i.e., noise, shuttle, etc.) to staff for appropriate follow-up. Maintains surveillance to ensure security system is operational and monitors security system activities for discrepancies, and dispatches appropriate staff as required

Monitors all automated equipment systems for fire, security and maintenance alarms, making appropriate notifications when necessary Initiates and coordinates Airport response and notification of essential local, state and federal agencies to respond to emergencies in support of the "Unified Incident Command" structure; assists with operation of the Airport Operations Center as required. Monitors communication center equipment, reports equipment problems; records all significant events disseminated to and/or from the communications center daily in computerized logs. May operate motor vehicles to tow trailers or to transport employees and/or the general public.

May conduct airfield tours. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age or older, eligible to work in the United States, and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

Must pass a criminal history record check and security threat assessment. Must pass a drug screening. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license during employment.

Must have one year of Airport, security or communications center experience. Must pass a computer skills test (accurately type 15?20 words per minute) and have basic/Intermediate experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Having met the minimum qualifications, the preferred candidate will have prior military, aviation, security, law enforcement or communications experience.

Licenses and Certifications Required: Obtain or possess a valid Florida Driver's License upon initial performance of duties. Obtain Airport Perimeter Service Road/Non-Movement Area driver certification/endorsement within ten (10) days of initial performance of duties. Obtain Airport Airfield Ground Vehicle Operator driver certification / endorsement within (6) months of initial performance of duties.
