About the Role

As a Manager, Data Science, you will be a subject matter expert, defining projects and their execution. Leading direct and indirect reports, you'll influence and mentor distributed teams in best practices and methodologies.

We are seeking candidates who are highly experienced in leading the development and deployment of advanced AI and machine learning models. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, experience working with large datasets, and a track record of delivering high-quality results. You will work closely with other data scientists and engineers to design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of advanced AI and machine learning models to solve complex business problems.

  • Collaborate with other data scientists and engineers to design, develop, and deploy AI solutions.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure AI solutions align with business goals and customer needs.

  • Analyze large datasets to identify patterns and trends that inform AI development.

  • Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

  • Stay current with the latest AI and machine learning trends and technologies.

  • Mentor junior data scientists and provide guidance on best practices.

  • Drive best practices across data science functions.

  • Set strategy and team direction, with a clear vision for Data Science.

  • Work with product leaders to apply data science solutions.

  • Evaluate and create new frameworks, define methodologies and governance.

  • Lead small- to medium-sized teams (direct or indirect).

  • Set a high bar for model development.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in a senior data scientist role.

  • Experience leading complex projects and customer relationships.

  • Significant experience managing larger technical teams (direct or indirect).

  • Experience mentoring or training others, acting as a subject matter expert.

  • Natural problem solver, able to lead collaboration to resolve issues.

  • Excellent communication skills, able to convey information clearly to senior stakeholders.

Highly Desired Skills and Experience

  • PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.

  • 5 + years of people management experience.

  • 10 + years of experience in AI and machine learning.

  • Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, including deep learning, gradient boosting, and random forests.

  • Experience with design and delivery of Agentic AI solutions.

  • Experience with large language models and Transformer-based architectures (BERT, RoBERTa, T5, etc.).

  • Working knowledge of recent LLMs (ChatGPT, GPT 3.5, OPT, BLOOM, etc.).

  • Experience with reinforcement learning, prompt engineering, hallucination mitigation.

  • Understanding of business risks associated with applying LLMs.

  • Experience with large datasets and distributed computing systems (Hadoop, Spark).

  • Strong coding skills in Python or another programming language.

  • Excellent communicator, able to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box.

U.S. National Base Pay Range: $115,400 - $192,300. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates. This job is eligible for an annual incentive bonus.
