Job description

Description Summary Under the supervision of the Department Chair of Allied Health Programs, the Part-Time Adjunct Respiratory Therapy Instructor provides high-quality instruction in classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical settings as assigned. This position supports student learning by delivering course content, evaluating student performance, and maintaining current knowledge of respiratory care practices. The adjunct instructor contributes to student success and supports the mission of the Respiratory Therapy Program and the College.

Knowledge & Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties as assigned. Provides instruction in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings as assigned. Prepares and delivers course materials in alignment with program curriculum and accreditation standards.

Evaluates student performance and provides timely feedback on assignments, exams, and clinical competencies. Maintains accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress. Assists in the implementation of curriculum and learning resources.

Supports simulation and lab activities to enhance hands-on learning experiences. Maintains communication with students regarding course expectations and performance. Collaborates with full-time faculty and program leadership as needed.

Ensures compliance with college policies, accreditation standards, and clinical requirements (if applicable). Participates in program meetings and professional development as appropriate. Maintains current knowledge of respiratory therapy practices and education methodologies.

Promotes a positive and inclusive learning environment. Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Chair. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervision of students in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings as assigned.

Minimum & Preferred Qualifications Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education Minimum: Associates in Applied Science in Respiratory Care Experience Minimum: A minimum of 2 years Respiratory Therapy clinical experience, management and supervision, in-service education, etc. in a hospital environment. Previous teaching experience.

Preferred: Previous didactic (teaching) experience and advanced clinical experiences (beyond 5 years). Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required: Current Certification in Respiratory Therapy Healthcare Provider CPR-Adult, Infant, and Child Current unencumbered license as a Respiratory Therapist ACLS, PALS, NRP Additional Information Language Skills Effective written and verbal communication skills are required. Mathematical Skills Ability to perform basic math computations including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and averaging all units of measure.

Ability to compute fractions, percentages and decimals. Reasoning Ability Ability to use effective critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully an individual should be proficient in using a Windows environment and have knowledge of email systems, PowerPoint, Canvas, and online lab environments.
