Allegion is looking for an industrial design co-op to join our growing internal industrial design team! In this role you will support all the Allegion brands creating security products for the home, bike and portable security, institutional, and commercial applications.

We are seeking an industrial design student with strong technical skills, a passion for excellence, willingness to learn, and interest in architecture or interior design styling. The ideal candidate for this role must be highly creative.

Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. The company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.) for this employment position.

What You Will Do:

In this role you will be working alongside designers to provide support to projects and providing a vision of the future of security through research and new product concepts. The role encompasses multiple aspects of industrial design including design research, concept creation and sketching, CAD modeling, computer rendering and animation, prototype creation, UI/UX, ergonomics, the design and creation of product displays, and promotional activities around design. Additional responsibilities include active engagement in design reviews, presenting ideas and research, time management, owning deliverables, collaboration with other departments, and collaboration with external customers.

What You Need to Succeed:

Actively pursuing a degree in industrial design from an accredited school.

Ability to create product concepts through sketching and physical mock-ups.

Working knowledge of Adobe suite software.

Ability to create CAD models and computer-generated renderings and animations (working knowledge of Creo and Keyshot software is a plus).

Basic understanding of mechanical construction, manufacturing, materials and processes.

The ability to present ideas, receive constructive feedback, and alter designs accordingly.

The ability to work in a team environment and collaborate and support peers.

The ability to manage time and work on multiple projects.

Active and attentive listening and creative problem solving.

A commitment to excellence and strong attention to detail.

Interest and enthusiasm for aesthetics and styling related to architecture.

The ability to effectively work in a team environment with functions outside Industrial Design.
