Senior Electrical Engineer

Evansville, Indiana Office

RT Patterson has an opening in our Evansville, Indiana office for a full-time electrical engineer to design and implement heavy industrial facility electrical systems. To do well in this role we would prefer that you are a licensed professional engineer and have extensive experience as an electrical engineer conforming to the following responsibilities and requirements.


Electrical Engineer Responsibilities

  • Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems for heavy industrial facilities.
  • Experience working in heavy industrial facilities and performing field investigations and assessments.
  • Ability to complete low & medium voltage power systems, instrumentation, and controls designs.
  • Experience with high voltage systems is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of arc flash analysis software such as ETAP or SKM.
  • PLC programming experience is a plus.
  • Performing a wide range of engineering tasks via computer-assisted design or other engineering software and equipment.
  • Conferring with customers, engineers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products or projects.
  • Ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations.
  • Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.
  • Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies.
  • Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.
  • Supervising or training project team members.
  • Estimating material, labor, and/or construction costs for budget preparation.
  • Manage engineering projects and deliver them on time.
  • Define customer needs and requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to design and apply new system processes.
  • Examine needs on new equipment, calculate costs and help prepare budgets.
  • Engage with clients to strengthen existing client relationships and foster new relationships.


Electrical Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering degree from an ABET accredited school.
  • 5+ years relevant work experience, including internship or cooperative program experience.
  • Licensed as a professional engineer. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical engineering codes and safety standards.
  • Proficient in design and calculation software.
  • Proven expertise as an electrical engineer.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Electronics/electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience with seller-doer work model.
