Summary: We are seeking an entry-level IT System Operator responsible for monitoring and maintaining multi-technology computing platforms, including midrange platforms, mainframes, and servers. This role ensures a stable operating environment, maximizes system utilization, and supports the efficient operation of console systems and peripheral equipment.
Responsibilities:
  • Monitor multi-technology computing platforms to ensure stable operations.
  • Operate and monitor console systems and peripheral equipment, such as printers, disk drives, and tape readers.
  • Troubleshoot and restore routine technical services and peripheral equipment.
  • Schedule production runs and perform system backup processes and disaster recovery tests.
  • Load tapes, disks, and paper as necessary to maintain operations.
  • Assist programmers and systems analysts in running jobs for testing and debugging new programs.
  • Function independently on a single platform with guidance from senior operators, supervisors, or managers.
  • Follow documented procedures and checklists to ensure consistent operations.

Required skills:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree, or technical institute degree/certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 0 to 1 year of IT work experience.
  • Basic understanding of operating systems and computing platforms.
  • Ability to work as a team member and assist with special projects.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
  • Effective communication skills.
