Job description

Jet Avion Corporation is located at HEICO's corporate headquarters in Hollywood, Florida and specializes in the supply of various platforms of aircraft and engine PMAs. Our products and capabilities vary from interiors cabin interiors to highly complex power plant and accessory parts.

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving, counting, packaging, labeling, storing, and distribution of materials as well as maintaining accurate records of inventory. Must be attentive, organized, efficient, energetic and hardworking. Must have strong, professional and courteous communication skills via email, phone and in-person. May involve heavy lifting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Receiving:

  • Sign for shipments received from FedEx, UPS and other carriers after verifying quantity and examining for any damage.
  • Sort and distribute inbound shipments to various departments and individuals in a timely manner. Communicate with recipients via email, phone or in-person, as needed.
  • Examine and verify contents of shipments received against packing slips and purchase orders.
  • Identify the appropriate means of receiving in the computer system.
  • Receive in the computer system and generate receiver documents and labels.
  • Route materials, along with documentation, to the appropriate department/individual.
  • Find, assign and communicate a location for materials in staging areas, as needed.
  • Keep receiving and staging areas organized, marked and accessible for others.

Shipping:

  • Responsible for pulling parts, packaging and labeling from inventory for work orders.
  • Verify pulled parts match work order requirements, including special handling instructions.
  • Prepare documents, including packing slips, certificates, commercial invoices, SLI, BOL and labels as required by export regulations, customer, carrier and procedures.
  • Determine shipping method for materials using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. Provide shipping method options and requirements in response to shipping requests.
  • Coordinate and ship individual shipments, including documents, returns, hardware, personal items, and oversized shipments using computer, online or manual means in a professional manner, respecting privacy and professional discretions.
  • Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements and issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
  • Utilize computer systems, barcode scanners and printers (e.g. recording inventory transactions, generate labels, generate paperwork, communicate via phone & email)
  • Recognize & take steps to resolve inventory discrepancies & work area issues.

Warehousing:

  • Operate machinery for moving products, such as hand truck, pallet jack, forklift, conveyor, etc.
  • Bulk package shipments onto pallets, including wrapping, strapping, labeling & shipping.
  • Organize and maintain shipping, receiving and all staging areas, including shelving, pallet racking, and mezzanine storage.
  • Perform accurate inventory checks and documents, as needed and directed.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of supplies. Replenish as needed.
  • Coordinate with co-workers to accomplish large tasks efficiently.
  • Assist Stockroom and Facilities, as needed.
  • Dress appropriate for office work environment while maintaining strict attention to warehouse safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least six months' experience in stocking, shipping, logistics, or related field.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Current forklift license preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES:

  • Language/Communication Skills: Must be fluent and able to read and write English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as emails, report and correspondence. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: Moderate computer knowledge of Microsoft suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). Able to use handheld electronic scanners.
  • Math Skills: Ability to use mathematics to solve problems.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to problem solve and provide solutions.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, strict attention to details and ability to multitask and prioritize as necessary, with minimal supervisory direction. Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Must work well and communicate with others.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to operate a forklift truck and get certified.
  • Strong Work Ethic: Maintain a high level of professional integrity and trustworthiness. Willing to work hard and long hours, when needed. Must be available to work overtime and some Saturdays, as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Performing the duties of this job will require to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and reach with arms, hands and fingers. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance version, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and ability to adjust focus. Must be physically capable of routine bending to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
