The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.
Position Summary/Details:
This position will be assigned to a team within our IT Security Department, which includes our Cyber Fusion Center, Governance & Risk Team, and Identity & Access Management Team at our Ybor Data Center.
Accountabilities:
• Provide daily monitoring of IT Security tools and applications. Complete daily monitoring checklist.
• Complete root cause analysis (RCAs) documentation and assist with investigations as needed.
• Assist with the documentation of key cyber security performance and threat/risk metrics
• Collect and present computer/network-related evidence in support of network vulnerability mitigation
• Assist with server and network review for current vulnerabilities/patching and AV signature aging
• Document and update security processes and desk-level procedures for daily operations.
• Assist on projects as necessary that support the maturity of the IT Security Department.
• Assist with daily tasks associated with Identity & Access Management
Physical Location of Co-op: Ybor Data Center
Working Conditions: Mostly in a normal office environment
Preferred Availability: Part-Time (up to 35 hours)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate-level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.
Co-Op Requirements:
• To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university's co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
Degree: Cybersecurity or Information Technology
Year in School: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student.
A pre-employment drug screening as well as a background check (including employment, criminal and motor vehicle) will also be conducted as part of the pre-employment screening.
