Job description

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology


SHIFT: 10 Hour Shifts (40hrs./week)

POSITION SUMMARY

Troubleshoot and provide hardware and software support for desktop and laptop computers. Provide advanced Microsoft Office and Active Directory support to District personnel. Perform basic system administration tasks with the Systems Administrator. Act as Network Administrator under the supervision of a senior Network Administrator, to support district networked workstations and other network connected systems. Work directly with the Network Administrator learn the core technical function and support tasks for local (LAN) and Wide Area network (WAN) within the district network including the management of switches, routers, firewalls, and servers; Serve when possible as the Systems Administrator maintaining file servers’ operational status and minimizing down time. Respond to support requests by reviewing, prioritizing, analyzing, and resolving issues independently, in a timely fashion and at minimal cost; report results and follow up issues to manager as required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Advanced desktop computer and associated application support.
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 suite support and Active Directory administration under the supervision of senior team members.
  • Basic and advanced network hardware configuration.
  • Advanced remote user support.
  • Intermediate network and Wide Area Network (WAN) troubleshooting and analysis.
  • Basic scripting, SQL queries, and reports.
  • All other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
  • Accountability for compliance with laws, regulations, and policies to demonstrate ethical behavior.


QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Education (or substitute experience) Required:

  • 3 years technical schooling or the equivalent in education, or 5 years of direct IT support for a medium to large organization or support group (private consulting is not a suitable substitute)

Education Preferred:

  • High School Diploma
  • College level IT coursework
  • Microsoft and Cisco certification

Minimum Experience Required:

  • PC hardware, Windows, Microsoft Office/365 troubleshooting proficiency, network support, and Active Directory administration
  • Network function, concept, and testing proficiency
  • Desktop application proficiency

Experience Preferred:

  • Four years of progressive Information Technology enterprise application, network, local and remote user support.
  • Documented network and WAN troubleshooting and analysis
  • Advanced network design, troubleshooting and configuration


Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Scripting, database query and report writing skills.
