Job description

Trexon's Network Engineer is a critical part of our IT infrastructure team. This position's primary responsibilities are the design, implementation, and maintenance of our global network infrastructure. This will leverage excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, a well-rounded understanding of networking protocols and technologies, and the ability communicate complex ideas to help support our business units and provide technical support and guidance on network-related issues. 

Trexon's Network Engineer is a flexible, hands-on, creator who demonstrates experience leading collaboration exercises with peer engineers on network design and security architecture. This position joins a team of business-aligned professionals who ensure the availability, reliability, and security of our network systems across our portfolio of companies spanning multiple locations and time zones. 

This position appreciates the challenge of working with internal customers who have varying priorities and enjoys developing right-sized, contemporary solutions around switching, routing, wireless networking, VPN connections, and cloud networking. Skillful document creation and change management techniques will ensure business value realization from the efforts of this role. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Design comprehensive networking solutions for each business unit. 
  • Configure and install network devices and services, such as switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless access points. 
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network performance and connectivity issues. 
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades outside of core business hours. 
  • Implement and enforce network security policies and best practices. 
  • Collaborate with peer engineers and vendors to resolve network problems. 
  • Document network architecture, configuration, and procedures 
  • Travel as needed to set up or maintain compute and networking systems. 
  • Provide on-call support for network emergencies. 

Skills and Experience Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent degree / practical working experience. 
  • 4+ years of overall experience in midsize or enterprise-scale Information Technology (IT) programs. 
  • 2+ years proven experience in Network Engineering or Architecture. Senior/Lead experience a plus. 
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols and technologies, such as TCP/IP, IPSEC, OSPF, BGP, QoS, etc. 
  • Hands-on experience with network devices and tools from vendors such as Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Auvik, DataDog, Wireshark, etc. 
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills 
  • Demonstrable skill at communicating complex ideas. 
  • Exceptional ability to generate documentation for both end-users and IT peers. 
  • Effective ability to deliver solutions in a timely manner, keeping commitments, meeting dependencies, and and aligning to critical priorities. 

Beneficial Certifications for this Role: 

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) 
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) 
  • Cisco Meraki Solutions Specialist (CMSS) 
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA) 

Travel Requirements: 

  • Up to 50% travel may be required (domestic and international). 
  • Most travel will be two and three-day visits to sites to install, configure, or troubleshoot. 

Position Dimensions: 

  • Reports to the IT Infrastructure Architect. 
  • Accountable for delivery standards within the Solution Engineering team. 
  • Candidates must be eligible for work in the US without sponsorship. 
  • Experience with CMMC compliance is a plus. 
  • Position will require occasional time after hours and on weekends to provide on-call support and disruptive maintenance/installation outside of business hours. 

Position Location: 

  • Remote, with occasional travel to sites.
