Job description

Leidos is seeking CAD Drafters to work with our Distribution group out of Framingham, MA. The successful candidate will have an interest in developing construction work packages for the electric distribution system using various software systems and construction standards. Distribution systems may be in an OH, UG, or URD environment.
CAD Drafter Responsibilities:
  • Develop and revise detailed drafting packages for Protection & Control, SCADA, and Communications systems, including single line diagrams, schematics, control building layouts and elevations, panel and cabinet layouts, wiring and interconnection diagrams, AC/DC station service drawings, and other project-specific deliverables.
  • Produce and update Physical Electrical drawings, including general arrangements, electrical plans/elevations/sections, foundation and structural details, grounding and raceway plans, and incorporation of equipment vendor files in accordance with project scope.
  • Provide cross-office CAD production support as needed, coordinating with CAD leads across Leidos offices to manage workload demands while maintaining quality and schedule commitments.

CAD Drafter Required Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2+ years prior relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques and procedures.
  • Proficiency with the manipulation of vector and raster drawing files in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with a high level of attention to details.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating system environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment.
  • Highly organized and efficient.
  • Ability to perform tasks in a fast paced engineering/production environment.

CAD Drafter Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working a utility doing distribution drafting.
  • Experience with file sharing, document management and collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, FTP, SharePoint, etc.
  • Ability to understand and implement a wide range of client CAD standards.
  • Experience with 3-D modelling in the following software packges;
  • Autodesk Revit, Inventor, Autocad, Bentley Open Utilities, MicroStation.
  • Program Customization, Knowledge of VBA and/or AutoLisp.
