JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the Computer Lab Coordinator, the Student Computer Lab Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the University Student Union (USU) Computer Lab and provides supervision to the Student Computer Lab Technicians.
JOB DUTIES:
• Assists the Computer Lab Coordinator with providing supervision to the daily operations of the USU Computer Labs
• Assists the Computer Lab Coordinator with recruiting, interviewing, and recommending for hire Student Computer Lab Technicians
• Trains, supervises, and evaluates approximately 8-10 Student Computer Lab Technicians
• Troubleshoots computer hardware and software problems
• Coordinates regular staff meetings and department trainings
• Generates, assigns, and tracks Student Computer Lab Technicians projects
• Coordinates, manages, and alters the Student Computer Lab Technicians work schedule
• Provides recommendations and assists with the procurement of Computer Lab hardware, software, and supplies
• Maintains inventory and monitors usage of Computer Lab supplies
• Monitors Computer Lab usage
• Organizes and facilitates technology training classes and workshops hosted in the Computer Lab's training space
• Recommends Computer Lab safety standards, and monitors Computer Lab security
Interprets and implements current USU policies and procedures
• Assists in developing, monitoring, and adhering to the annual Computer Lab budget
• Assists the Computer Lab Operations Coordinator with special projects
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Must be a currently enrolled CSUN student
EXPERIENCE
Previous related experience and/or specialized education required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Proven leadership and organizational skills
• Must be detailed oriented, self-motivated, and possess strong initiative
• Ability to perform a wide variety of moderately-complex to complex tasks requiring judgment, analysis and decision-making
• Ability or ability to learn to independently manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adhere to deadlines without immediate supervision
• Ability or ability to learn to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and recommend viable solutions
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing, including composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation
• Ability to verbally communicate effectively, including the ability to share relevant information, ask questions, listen well, and respond appropriately
• Basic knowledge of computer programs and hardware and a willingness to learn about new programs and hardware
• Knowledge of current browsers including but not limited to Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape Navigator, Opera, and Safari
• Knowledge and ability to use Apple and Windows PC platforms, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Flash, and Microsoft Office Programs
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers and customers
• Ability to work and contribute to an inclusive, diverse working and learning environment

SUPERVISION:
Supervision is provided by the Computer Lab Coordinator.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is typically performed both in both indoor and outdoor environments in possible inclement weather conditions. Ability to arrive at work on time for all scheduled work shifts except in the event of emergency required. Daily contact with members of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, administrators and guests, is required. In addition to regularly assigned work schedule must possess an ability and willingness to work weekends, academic interim, and break periods. Must be flexible, adaptable, and readily able to adjust to changes in work environment.
