Job description

The Emerald Cloud Laboratory (ECL) enables life scientists to move out of the lab, and to conduct research entirely from a computer. Stepping away from manual completion of experiments at the bench, scientists on the ECL leverage the remote, automated execution of all standard biology and chemistry experiments in Emerald's industrial lab facilities, working within a software platform for all stages of research workflows, from experimental design to data analysis. Our system empowers scientists at Big Pharma companies, startups, and academic laboratories by allowing them to run wet lab experiments from anywhere in the world without ever stepping foot into the lab.
We are looking for a seasoned Facilities Manager to join the team. You will assume the overall responsibility for the management and maintenance of our Austin, TX facilities.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Planning recurring maintenance schedules for the facilities and building equipment.
  • Work with maintenance personnel and contractors to ensure duties are completed safely, effectively and within standard.
  • Develop strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of facility, personnel and processes.
  • Manage and respond to emergency calls and oversee time-critical repairs.
  • Plan and oversee execution of audits, routine maintenance and improvement projects for facility and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with required building codes such as OSHA, Fire Code, GMP, as relates to the facility.
  • Oversee building security, cleaning, and pest control service providers. Build and maintain quality relationships with key customer stakeholders, internal team members, and external partner service providers.

To be successful you will need the following skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Facilities Management
  • Experience with ISO 27001 Certification
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and safety audits
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams
  • Experience with facilities management, including maintenance, security, and vendor management
  • Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices and initiatives
  • Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Facilities Management Professional (FMP) are a plus
  • Experience managing a GMP compliant facility preferred
