QC Lab Technician
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct routine quality control testing on aggregates, including gradation, moisture content, density, and specific gravity.
• Perform field testing at quarry and construction sites (e.g., compaction tests, sampling, and monitoring).
• Collect, label, and prepare material samples in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of test results, inspections, and daily reports.
• Ensure materials meet project specifications, DOT regulations, and company quality standards.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory and field-testing equipment.
• Communicate test results, discrepancies, and quality concerns to supervisors and operations teams.
• Assist with troubleshooting production issues related to material quality.
• Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and company safety policies.
• Support audits and inspections by regulatory agencies or clients.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
• High school diploma or General Education Degree GED is preferred.
• Previous related experience in the construction field.
• 1-3 years of experience in construction materials testing, aggregates, or quality control in a quarry, asphalt, or concrete environment preferred.
• Basic understanding of construction materials and testing procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and data entry systems.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection.
• Ability to follow standardized testing procedures and protocols.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
