Job description

SUMMARY: To provide operational support to all aspects of the renewable diesel plant.
RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned at management's discretion.
Maintain a safe, clean work environment by observing all local, state, and federal regulations regarding health, safety, and the environment. This includes all established plant and lab safety practices to maintain good housekeeping/hygiene.
  • Perform routine wet and instrumental chemical analyses by established analytical methods and good laboratory practices and operating procedures.
  • Prepare standard solutions and perform dilutions and calculations.
  • Follow quality control system guidelines.
  • Review standardization, quality control, and sample analytical data for accuracy.
  • Review, release, and record sample results.
  • Work with computer data collection systems i.e. Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Assist with collecting samples in the plant as directed.
  • Review and restock chemical and equipment inventory
  • Engage in various ongoing training as appropriate and required.
  • Be available and flexible to work overtime and cover other lab technicians' sickness and vacations.

REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty/function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the work environment, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required or preferred.   • College degree (2-year Associate or higher) in a science discipline. A chemistry degree is preferred. Prior lab experience in petroleum or chemical industries is preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret in the English language correspondence, general business reports, professional journals, technical procedures or reports.
  • Ability to write clear, accurate, concise reports and business correspondence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lift 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to move from place to place to all areas of production. Must be able to climb ladders or platforms. Must be able to wear all safety and production-related equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment varies from an office, Plant production, and outside climate conditions, based on the situation. Noise level varies upon which area of production the employee is working in.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Occasionally, overtime or changes in schedule will be required as special circumstances arise.
