Starting Salary Range:  $16.31-$20.77 and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.

Position Summary: Conduct lab preparation for Johnson County Community College's (JCCC) Electrical Technology courses to ensure a safe, efficient, and organized environment conducive to learning.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current valid driver's license.
  • Performs advanced tasks under minimal supervision.
  • May mentor less-experienced team members.
  • Knowledge of electrical and construction safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in the Electrical Technology program at JCCC.
  • Two years of electrical/construction work experience.

Position details include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure class materials, tools, and equipment are stocked and available to accommodate lab and class schedules. Set up the lab and prep areas for scheduled classes. Ensure students have the materials and equipment needed for class and lab use.
  • Take inventory of the Electrical Technology program's materials and equipment within the lab and classrooms. Order and restock supplies and equipment to ensure students have materials needed for class and lab use. 
  • Troubleshoot all errors and malfunctions with electrical laboratory equipment. Coordinate and/or perform equipment service, repair, calibration, or replacement as needed.
  • Enforce and promote safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper use of safety equipment.
  • Provide a safe, efficient, and clean work area for the students. Ensure materials are organized and stored correctly and that equipment and work areas are cleaned according to established protocols.
  • Organize the lab and classrooms and their contents in between courses. 
  • Explain electrical concepts and provide assistance that supports instructional needs and meets the requirements of varying class schedules. Fulfill ad hoc and last-minute requests from instructors and staff as needed. 
  • Communicate with instructors regarding Electrical Technology protocols, supplies, and equipment. Maintain organized records for program activities.
  • Provide guidance and direction to students as they gain the skills and knowledge for a career as an electrician. Assist students with questions and concerns related to electrical-related activities and processes.
  • Monitor conditions and activities in work areas and enforce policies, procedures, and standards. Help students diagnose and resolve issues and malfunctions related to electrical circuits and equipment.
  • Conduct safety inspections and maintain departmental compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and JCCC policies. 
  • Drive to pick up supplies and equipment as needed.
