Job description

Job Overview:

Pay Range: $14.78hr - $19.78hr

Requirement/Must Have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical assistant training is helpful.
  • Math and science courses preferred.
  • Ability to establish work priorities and handle several tasks for maximum workstation efficiency.
  • Ability to retain information once learned.
  • Ability to interact with coworkers and customers with courtesy and respect.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform various routine laboratory functions in a precise and accurate fashion to assist professional staff and facilitate production.
  • Sort and receive specimens in the department.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance on designated equipment.
  • Centrifuge specimens, print extra labels, and record data such as temperature charts.
  • Manage specimen storage and retrieval.
  • Prepare reagents and media in the department.
  • Prepare specimens at workstations for testing, including building worklists and aliquoting specimens into sample cups.
  • Check specimens for clots and fibrin, perform inoculation, and prepare slides.
  • Perform QA/QC duties as assigned.
  • Resolve pending lists and locate missing samples.
  • Decontaminate work areas.
  • Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.
  • Maintain files for department records.
  • Change gas cylinders.
  • Follow all PPE requirements and safety regulations.
  • Use laboratory computer systems and operate PCs.
  • Dispose of biohazardous material.
  • Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.
