Job description

Job Summary:
Piston Automotive is dedicated to achieving excellence through better teams and innovative technology. The IT Warehouse Management Specialist (WMS) will oversee the Warehouse Management System, ensuring operational efficiency and data accuracy by managing system architecture and optimizing technology in the supply chain.
Responsibilities:
• System Administration & Configuration: Serve as the functional administrator for the WMS platform. Manage user access, configure system parameters, establish storage logic rules, and optimize systemic workflows.
• Data Integrity & Reconciliation: Conduct regular database audits, analyze transactional histories via SQL, and lead systemic reconciliation of inventory discrepancies between the WMS and ERP systems.
• Hardware & Edge Device Management: Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot warehouse hardware endpoints, including RF scanners, industrial barcode printers, pick-to-light systems, and vehicle-mounted terminals.
• Integration & Data Flow Monitoring: Monitor and troubleshoot EDI, API, and flat-file data exchanges between the WMS, ERP, and external transportation management systems (TMS) to ensure seamless communication.
• Inbound/Outbound Logic Optimization: Configure and maintain system logic for receiving, put-away paths, wave picking strategies, replenishment cycles, and shipping documentation generation.
• Technical Support & Incident Management: Act as the Tier 2/3 technical escalation point for application errors, hardware connectivity issues, and system bottlenecks on the operations floor.
• User Enablement & Documentation: Develop technical training materials, document system configuration changes, and conduct onboarding for super-users on WMS functionality.
• Continuous Improvement & Release Testing: Partner with corporate IT and operations leadership to test software patches, validate upgrades in a sandbox environment, and implement system enhancements.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems (CIS), or Supply Chain Technology (or equivalent hands-on technical experience).
• 1–3 years of experience in an IT application support, systems analyst, or technical super-user role directly supporting a WMS environment.
• Proven experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise application software.
• Foundational knowledge of SQL for data querying, analysis, and reporting.
• Familiarity with hardware/software interfacing, including device configuration and thermal printing protocols (ZPL/EPL).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to trace physical operational issues back to underlying software logic or data bottlenecks.
• Ability to translate complex technical issues into clear instructions for warehouse personnel and translate operational needs into technical specifications for development teams.
• High attention to detail regarding transactional accuracy and database cleanliness.
Preferred:
• Technical mastery of Tier 1 or Tier 2 WMS platforms (e.g., Manhattan Associates, Blue Yonder/JDA, SAP EWM, HighJump/Körber).
• Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms (e.g., SOTI MobiControl) for managing ruggedized RF scanners.
• Basic understanding of network infrastructure (TCP/IP, wireless access points troubleshooting in an industrial setting).
