An MECM (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager) job typically involves managing and maintaining IT infrastructure, particularly for deploying, configuring, and securing endpoints in an enterprise environment. Professionals in this role use MECM to automate software deployments, enforce security policies, and monitor system health. They often work with Windows servers, SCCM, Intune, and other Microsoft management tools to ensure efficient IT operations.
As an MECM Administrator, your typical day involves managing software deployments, patching systems, and configuring updates across the organization’s IT environment. You will monitor system health, address user support tickets related to endpoint management, and collaborate with IT security and support teams to maintain compliance with organizational policies. Regularly reviewing reports, performing system upgrades, and documenting processes are also key aspects of the role. These tasks ensure that all devices remain up-to-date, secure, and functioning optimally for end-users.
To thrive as a MECM (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager) Administrator, you need a strong background in systems administration, network management, and knowledge of enterprise IT environments, often supported by a degree in information technology or a related field. Proficiency with the Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager platform, Windows Server environments, and relevant Microsoft certifications (such as Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate) are highly advantageous. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential soft skills for this role. These competencies are critical for ensuring efficient deployment, management, and troubleshooting of IT infrastructure within large organizations.

ASRC Federal is seeking an Intermediate Systems Administrator to support operations at the Michigan Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC). In this role, you will provide enterprise-level systems administration, cybersecurity compliance, troubleshooting, network operations support, and user assistance across both classified and unclassified Air Force network environments. You will coordinate daily with CRTC leadership, the 299 Network Operations Squadron (NOS), and ANG/AF enterprise support organizations to maintain reliable system performance, ensure security compliance, and resolve technical issues impacting mission operations.
This is a broad systems administration role spanning Tier 1 through Tier 3 support responsibilities, including operating system configuration, Active Directory administration, network infrastructure troubleshooting, storage management, patching, messaging services support, backup operations, and RMF compliance activities across NIPRNet and SIPRNet systems. You will manage system configuration, document network changes, ensure compliance with Air Force cybersecurity directives, and respond to mission-critical outages under strict timelines.
A typical week includes triaging and resolving tickets; administering Active Directory, MECM, DHCP, and Exchange services; performing patch and vulnerability management; updating network diagrams; supporting SAN backups and disaster recovery; maintaining workstation/server configurations; coordinating system changes through the Configuration Control Board (CCB); installing and configuring network equipment; addressing outages; supporting visiting units; and ensuring systems remain compliant with DoD, AF, NGB, and DISA cybersecurity standards. This role requires a versatile systems administrator comfortable working across desktop, server, network, and cybersecurity domains.
