Job description

Service Wire Company, a premier supplier of industrial and utility wire and cable, is currently seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer in Culloden, WV. If you are looking to join a great organization and a chance to become a part of our growing team, this may be the opportunity for you!

Position Summary

The Infrastructure Technician will be responsible for assisting in designing, implementing, and maintaining both the network and server infrastructure that supports our manufacturing processes. This role involves managing network and server systems, ensuring optimal performance, and maintaining high levels of security, reliability, and scalability.

Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and deployment of network solutions to support manufacturing operations, including LAN, WAN, and WLAN
  • Design, configure, and deploy server infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, storage systems, and backup solutions
  • Monitor and maintain network and server performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement upgrades as needed
  • Manage virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware) and ensure high availability of critical systems
  • Perform routine maintenance, patching, and updates on server operating systems and applications
  • Assist in configuring and managing network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems
  • Implement server security best practices, including access controls, antivirus/antimalware solutions, and vulnerability management
  • Provide technical support for network and server-related issues, including hardware and software troubleshooting
  • Assist in disaster recovery planning and execution, including backup verification and restoration testing
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network and server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
  • Work closely with our MSP, local IT Support, and manufacturing teams to ensure infrastructure meets operational needs
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for hardware procurement, support, and warranty services
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in network and server engineering or a similar role
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSA, VCP, or equivalent are preferred
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Experience with network hardware (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls)
  • Proficiency in server technologies, including Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, and virtualization platforms
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (VSphere) and hybrid environments is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
