Job description

Position Summary

Job Specifications:

Education: In at least the 2nd year of a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline - positions within Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering

Years' Experience: Zero to two years

Location: Akron, Ohio

Co-op Rotation: After completion of a co-op semester/session, the co-op will be rotated to another engineering department for future sessions, if applicable. The candidate shall be adaptable to different areas of engineering.

General: Applies standard industry techniques/methods & criteria to the solution of engineering problems, completes tasks assigned by the manager & engineers, carries out special projects as assigned

Systems Engineer Co-op (Aerospace or Mechanical)

Provides support for design, development, validation, testing, & verification of hydro-mech & electro-mech systems

  • Responsible for Braking /Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems Requirements / Design, development of system-level requirements to meet customer specifications for multi-domain systems (e.g. hardware, software, mechanical, hydraulic)

  • Requirements validation (e.g. traceability, simulation, analysis & review)

  • System Integration- Hardware In the Loop (HIL) System Integration Testing & System Requirements Verification

  • Flight Test Support, analysis of aircraft test data & development of associated test tools (e.g. Simulink.)

  • Modeling including the use of tools such as MATLAB/Simulink in order to develop simulation models of aircraft, aircraft systems & individual hydraulic & electrical components

  • Control Algorithm Development- developing & tuning of control algorithms associated with Brake Control, E-brake Control & Nose Wheel Steering

  • Prepare & review documentation: technical specs & reports, design docs, user guides, work instructions, test plans/procedures

Electrical Hardware Engineer Co-op (Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical)

Focused on development of electrical hardware & engineering process documentation per Parker Meggitt standard

  • Applying basic electrical engineering principles and analysis to the resolution of technical problems; such as analog and digital electronic design, circuit analysis and troubleshooting.

  • Supporting test programs to validate performance meets products requirements designs

  • Supporting project deliverables such as documentation, drawings, wiring diagrams, reports, etc.

  • Working with electrical test equipment such as digital multi-meter (DMM), oscilloscope, function generator, power supplies, etc.

  • Review/prepare engineering change documentation

Technical Support Engineer Co-op (Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical)

Supporting solutions to engineering issues for in-service aircrafts to help build positive relationships with our customers

  • Aids design improvements of existing products which may include product design changes, root cause corrective action investigations, & development of troubleshooting tools for maintenance

  • Supports the update of component maintenance manuals (CMMs) for in-service aircraft model programs

  • Works closely with other engineering departments, metallurgist, program manager(s), warranty manager, quality assurance, & the maintenance, repair, & overhaul (MRO) repair stations to help solve problems involving product deficiencies, design changes, maintenance issues, & manufacturing processes & costs, enabling the cross-pollination of design ideas/technical know-how

  • Works with global customer support network, including contact with field support representatives

  • Outside the company, interfacing with customer engineers & repair shop technicians on product performance & maintenance, & with suppliers & third-party partners for technical information

  • Review/prepare engineering change documentation

Test Engineer Co-op (Aerospace or Mechanical)

Helps create test documentation, supports qualification/development testing, & performs testing activities

  • Assisting with Qualification Test QTO (Qualification Test Outline), Qualification Test Procedures (QTPs), Qualification Test Reports (QTRs), & FRACA (Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action) documentation

  • Helps with product testing down in the lab dynamometer &/or environmental lab

  • Participate in root cause corrective action investigations following test failures

  • Works with lead engineers and other disciplines as part of the New Product Introduction (NPI) team

  • Hands-on opportunities with actual hardware

 

Product Engineer Co-op (Aerospace or Mechanical)

Involved in operations support, assists with new product introductions (NPI) as a liaison between design engineering & manufacturing

  • Works both with suppliers & internal customers on manufacturing issues relating to new & legacy aerospace components

  • Assist other product engineers in support of new product introductions though the design, build & qualification stages

  • Working close with design to ensure Designs for Manufacturing (DFM)

  • Working on APQP PPAP elements: PFMEAs, PFDs (process flow diagrams), & Control Plans for new programs as required

  • Review/prepare engineering change documentation

Wheel & Brake (Design) Engineer Co-op (Aerospace or Mechanical)

Supports development of new wheel & brake equipment, ensuring design meets requirements: (customer, government, internal)

  • Assisting performance calculations and simulations to validate that the equipment will meet the required design requirements

  • Creation & review of technical requirement documents in accordance with standards: (customer, government, internal)

  • Supporting new product introduction (NPI) including requirements management & validation, design manufacturing phase, qualification / certification testing, & initial entry into service

  • Coordination with other engineering functions to support equipment development

  • Ensuring adequate design margins are met coordinating with stress, thermal, vibration & reliability analysis engineers

  • Working with supply chain and/or operations on Designs for Manufacturing (DFM) & satisfying the Design to Cost (DTC) targets

  • Works with test & lead engineers to assist in the development of all qual test documents & test set-up drawings

  • Supporting Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) for qualification / design / manufacturing issues

  • Review/prepare engineering change documentation

Friction Materials Engineer Co-op (Chemical)

Focused on activities and operations of the friction materials team

  • Supporting the design and manufacturing of new and legacy aerospace friction materials

  • Assisting cross functional teams with antioxidant coatings testing; Working closely with engineers/technicians to develop & complete qualification &/or manufacturing support testing

  • Assisting with collection & compilation of data related to friction materials

  • Improving engineering tools & systems to increase their efficiency; Working hands on with these systems to gain an understanding of how the system will be utilized across multiple functions

  • Review/prepare engineering change documentation
