Job description

The Classified Instructor- Computer works under the direction ofthe building principal. In

performance of duties, the Classified Instructor-Computer collaborates with the Media Center

staff to provide instructional support for student learning in digital citizenship, computer science,

and technology skills.

The Classified Instructor- Computer should possess:

• Must have completed 2 years of college, hold a 2-year degree, or pass a state or local

assessment

• Knowledge and skills related to computer productivity programs (i.e. word processing,

presentations, spreadsheets)

• Willingness to learn new software and technology tools

• Cooperative and collaborative work skills in achieving the desired outcomes for the

district technology initiatives

• Good communication and public relation skills in dealing with teachers, students and

parents

• Experience working with children in an educational setting

Responsibilities:

• Assist students in the use· of computers during sessions as determined by building

schedules

• Establish a positive, supportive and collaborative learning environment

• Provide instructions on the basic use of productivity and educational software

• Actively supervise and monitor computer use and address minor workstation issues

• Assist in test readiness and implementation

• Keep computer labs and learning areas well maintained and submit technology

work-orders as needed

• Attend Computer Assistant meetings and other opportunities for professional _growth

• Implement curriculum with direction of building librarian and district Curriculum

Department

• Other duties as assigned by building principal

Working Conditions:

• 183 school-day commitment (40 hours per week)
